I had my house and roof soft washed by this company on May 13, 2025. The person who supervised the work was named Tristain. My contact person was ***** *******, MBA. They seemed to be in a hurry and were barely here 2 hours. I've heard it should have taken much longer.. They left streaks on the roof and dirt in the window *****. The only thing I can say is that Mr. ******* wanted to come back and redo, but I can't have that because of the damage they did to my landscape. I had three 22 year old boxwoods severely damaged. I also had one 3 x 3' area of my lawn damaged and several smaller areas of grass affected.. I had a tree that stands out from my patio have two branches die. I know they shot my patio because my patio furniture had marks from their product that I had to wash off.I called Mr. ******* and suggested he return half of the $720 I paid. He stated the landscape will grow back. It has been approximately a month and that shows no sign of happening. I have pictures I could send but the files are too large for your system. Please contact me and I can email. If you go to their website, *********************************** they say MULTIPLE times their system is eco-friendly, they guarantee no damage, and they know what they are doing. None of that is true. Please help.

    Business Response

We warranty our work and was contacted over 2 weeks after the job.  We were going to do a follow up on the roof due to our guarantee, but the customer refused.  As for the boxwoods, if our solution did anything to the boxwoods it would have been noticed in 24 hours, not 2 weeks.

According to NBC 5 Chicago, May was very dry.

"While the sunny and warm conditions will be perfect for any Memorial Day weekend gatherings and events, parts of the Chicago area could soon see a “flash drought” after one of the driest months of May on record.

According to the National Weather Service, parts of the Chicago metropolitan area, especially in the western and southern parts of the city and suburbs, have not seen an “appreciable rainfall” since early April, and as a result, there are growing concerns that a drought could soon take hold."

This stresses boxwoods and causes what you see in the picture per the Arborist we spoke to.

As for our solution, it's literally used in drinking water as our supplier also supplies the Village water department and community pools.  It is THE chemical used by all cleaning companies to clean exteriors.

As for the windowsills, the crew said they washed them as we have to rinse off the windows, but this was a house soft wash, not a window cleaning job where the sills are hand wiped.  In addition, there was a documented dust storm after the job was completed, and the complaint emailed to us.

"On May 16, 2025, a rare dust storm pushed across northern Illinois, northern Indiana, and the Chicago metropolitan area. The National Weather Service attributed the storm to a combination of drier soil, recent agricultural tilling, and dry windy conditions"

All of us cleaning companies talk to each other and there has been an upward trend in the past 4 years to threaten to receive a refund.  Last year we were literally given a 1-star review because we didn't hand wipe the siding and gutters!  So happens this customer did the same thing to my competitor previously to get a refund.  Therefore, it's our policy to reclean and not give a refund.  Yes, there are documented communities on FB that they tell each other how to get a lower price or the job done for free!

According to the all the conditions I laid out, there is no evidence we are at fault, but I'll give a $100 refund out good will.  It goes against our policy and terms of conditions.

I am rejecting this response because:

I don't know how to zip my pictures so they will be accepted by your system, but I have a few that will tell a very different story than has been presented by this company. I would appreciate being given a differnt way to send them. I am appalled by the response they provided. I've had those boxwoods--3, on the side of my house for over 22 years with no browning or dying out. Many summers of severe drought. Note--the death has occurred on the two ends of my hip roof where runoff occurred. It is obvious in the picture I can provide. I can also show dead grass at downspouts. I don't doubt this chemical is used by other companies, The diffeerence is other companies know enough to water down landscape and protect it. This compny does not.

This company also wants to make excuses for their shoddy work. Dirty windowsills after I was instructed to take off screens for them to do their best job. I have pictures that show there was way more dirt than any duststorm could have provided. I told Mr. Hadsall I saw the dirt later on the 13th of May. He prefers to attack my character and intent. I also immediately told the person he sent to my house that there were still streaks on my roof. I have big shoulders, a strong character, and have always treated people fairly so I can handle that. It just isn't true.

Just to be clear, the bushes did show they were not right a few days after the "cleaning." I wanted to be sure I was not unjustly accusing them. To find a pattern in what was going on it was necessary to observe.

It was my intent when I discovered the mess that has been created,  to try to fix the problem as simply as possible. That means I have to consider the shoddy work a lesson learned.  However, I am not going to allow a company to come in like they know what they are doing and then destroy my property. I felt the amount of half of what I paid would at least allow me to have the 3 dead bushes removed and I would deal with what was left. I have contacted a landscaper to do this. Perhaps I should wait for the estimate and have the bushes replaced, but that would cost more.

    Sincerely,

    Patricia Malone
