    Zee Painting was contracted to paint a wall and install a backsplash. A fifty percent down payment of $1,409 cash was provided. Prior to performing any work, the scope of the project was changed to only paint the wall. The contractor did not supply any materials.Due to the changes to the project, the contractor agreed to paint the wall and refund us $1,000 of the down payment.The contractor responded to a text message inquiring to the status of the refund and agreed to providing the refund by 12/01/24. On 12/18/24 we received an email from Zee's Painting LLC stating the company's policy is to provide refunds 30 days from date of agreed changes to the project which was 11/14/24.Many attempts have made to contact the business by phone, email and text messages. None of which have been responded to. As of the date of this complaint, we have received no notifications..

    Hello BBB,

    I first wanted to start with the fact that this customer has no right to leave a in accurate review. That customer was encouraged to read their contract. We have many legal issues that shows that the customer tried to bait and switch (get more work done within the same amount or lesser)  me even after showing up to do the project with a major ******** on my inner left thigh and hand. No matter the outcome they want to settle on a refund on the down payment the made and as they initialed sign the contract that states no refund last on the down payment. Attached is our contract and the original scope of work

    I am rejecting this response because:

     The attached email conversation shows that the owner of Zee Painting agreed to provide the $1,000 refund.  When a business owner backs out on his word and ghosts the customer to prevent any communication or resolve, then it demonstrates that the owner has no integrity and cannot be trusted to perform as agreed. This business cannot be trusted.

    Customer expressed that $1000 refund was agreed upon and was stated in contract.

    We have a non refundable down payment clause the customer signed.

    Due to the fact customer tried to bait and switch us from original quoted estimate and completed work that was on the original estimate the customer is ineligible for a refund.

    May 8: 2023 signed contract to have trim on house painted. Paid 50% down, they supposedly hired someone else to do our painting in 2023, nothing was ever painted.June 2024 Zee's painting showed up, They have finished about 95% of the job, it was Father's week-end they asked to be paid (they need $ to purchase Father's Day gifts), we gave them a check for the balance due in contract. They came back the next week and started to paint the small back porch. They realized they were planning to apply paint over stain, This was impossible, some areas need to be scraped. They did a small amount of scraping, told us they would purchase the stain needed and return some evening to complete our job. Here it is September 23, 2024 and all we get is We'll be there in the next couple of weeks We would like to have this project completed this year!

    Hello ******,

    We do greatly apologize for the inconvenience of rescheduling your project not once but twice. We do take great pride in taking care of our customers. The first time we did have another painting company contracted out to finish off your project. However, we got late into the year and the Contractor we hired to do the work left town and has not returned. Gladly he did not do your project because we had to return to fix two other projects he screwed up last year. So due to the first instance we had to reschedule your project for this year. Now I'm not sure what transpired between you, your wife, and our workers. But we do not collect a second payment until the project is 95% of the way finished or when completely finished that is up to our customer, we would never leverage a customer into paying us because of a holiday or monitary self gain as that is illegal to do in the state of ********. We also discussed we will still be back to finish the rest of the project as promised before the cold weather kicks in. However, the owner has been out of state for a few weeks now due to a family death and will not be returning until October 1st. He has made it clear he wants to be there when we are to finish off your project to make sure it runs smoothly and the work needed to be done and done correctly.

    first they have promised to be here several times and not shown up.

    They DID ask for full payment on the 15th of June, we paid them.

    When are they coming to finish?

    Hello ******,

    We are sorry to hear you have rejected our response. The owner of Zees Painting as well their assistant have explained to you that we have had you in the schedule to finish the work that remains. However Zees painting LLC has it documented that late last year you brought in another contractor to quote your project inspite of the fact Zees painting LLC already had you locked into a contract already. The contract you signed explains that once you have done so it goes against Zees painting LLC non compete clause and is subjected to termination of contract. Not to mention you are now slandering a business name before the work is finalized which is also subjected to contract termination. Zees Painting LLC over looked the first instance and now your going against contract again. Any further slander or you go against the contract it will be canceled and we will assume further legal action.
