AMT was fixing my timing belt on my 2018 ford ecosport. They suggested I get a new motor due to the oil having metal shaving in there. I was not told the severity of the motor. I told them I had plans to trade it in at some point so of the motor could wait only to fix the timing belt at this time. It took them over 2 months to get my vehicle back to me after giving me almost 5 times prior that it was done and it was not done. Once i picked the vehicle back up i made it not even 3 miles before my car had more problems. It had a terrible smell coming through the vents and my car kept shutting off while I was driving the car, there was a loud knocking noise in engine and was leaking oil. I took the vehicle to ******* **** of pekin where it currently is. ******* **** told me AMT put some parts back on loosley and that the motor was dangerous that they never should have even done the timing belt in the first place. One part was so damaged he placed the part on his desk as a show and tell for his employees. ******* **** of ***** has more info regarding this vehicle. When I called AMT to explain they rudely talked over me and raised voices saying they will not help or compensate in any way since they suggested a new motor. This has costed me one of my jobs and cost me a great deal. I would like reimbursement for the timing belt or for them to replace the motor. Please dont hesitate to reach out to ******* **** of pekin for more information regarding my vehicle.

Another part I feel is important to share is that the owner, whom I have never had co taxt me directly messaged a mutual friend who recommended me to the shop for my timing belt after I mentioned reaching out to the BBB. Our mutual friend said AMT told him to tell me I will not be going to BBB and such which does not seem appropriate to me. ******* **** of pekin also told me at one point that AMT admited to possibly misdiagnosis on my car which doesnt seem fair that there is no compensation of anysort for a fault of their responsibility.

    9/19/23 Diagnosis $170
    10/13/23 Repair $567.85

I am willing to be fair and pay for 1 hr diagnostic 2 hrs labor and the (part) electric fuel pump that was the actual problem.
Total Refund amount requested $273 The whole experience was the worst I have ever had with a mechanic shop. Length of time, poor communication, excuses for why job is not done, professionalism and overcharging for services and refusal to stand behind their work. For a month I constantly had to call and find out the status of the repair. It took almost a month for me to be able to pick up my rv and when we arrived it would not even start. Luckily there were mechanics in the shop even though they were closed. I explained I was told it was ready to pickup the day before. When my wife baby and two other children arrived it would not start because it did not get fuel. The mechanic said he could fix it by rerouting and disconnecting the mechanical fuel pump that it was not working and really not even needed. I asked for a refund for this earlier and ****** the owner refused saying that it had to be replaced as a process of elimination. The mechanic on Saturday who fixed the fuel issue stated the newer electric pumps run at higher psi so the mechanical was not necessary. He unhooked it and it ran off the electric only!!! I am not paying for what I don't need or the time to not diagnose correctly. After it was running everyone was getting ready to leave and I went to drive the rv finally and it would not move!! The rv had been towed in at my expense and the driveshaft was not put back in. On top of that the u bolts and hardware was no where to be found. I called the tow company and they advised the parts were left inside the side door. I drove two blocks to the gas station and it overheated. Rv was not test drove. The owners boyfriend felt sorry for us that we had been there for 6 hrs!!! He put a thermostat in but the owner ****** just acted put out and angry. We drove 2 1/2 hrs to pick it up.

I am sorry I do not have the exact dates in front of me but in approximately October I took my 2008 F-150 in for repair. It was leaking transmission fluid. Their quote to fix my truck was $800 plus dollars. They were going to replace both lines. I picked up my truck a couple days later and paid for the service. Approximately one month later, I was driving my truck and it was acting funny and making awful noises. My check engine light came on and eventually my truck would not move anymore. This occurred in less than 5-8 mins from when I noticed the lack of power. I had it towed to ******** ************ in Tremont, IL. They confirmed that my transmission had blown and was a total loss. They also confirmed that the transmission line had not been seated properly. The locking device was not put on correctly and the lines eventually disengaged causing massive fluid loss and the blown transmission. I was quoted a price of $3,900 to fix it, plus labor. I did not have my truck towed back to American Motor Trends as I worried they would not admit their own fault if they made a mistake initially. I talked to *****, the owner of AMT and he said he doubted they would make that mistake but would work with me to try to fix it. He eventually did speak to the owners of ******** *********** about this situation and admitted to them that he probably didn't seat that locking device accordingly.
He then offered to do the labor for free if I paid for a used Transmission he found online. That cost was $1675. I later learned that ******** found that same Transmission for $400 less so I assume ***** was inflating the cost to offset labor. I DO NOT trust American Motor Trends. I am seeking to get my transmission fixed, replaced, or repaired at no cost to me. I already paid them over $800 for new lines that only lasted a month and because of their error caused my transmission to blow. I've never had an issue with it in the past. Thank you in advance for your time. *****
