I went in for work to be done on my 2013 Equinox and the so-called manager **** quoted me a price for what was needed. After picking up my truck and spending over $1000.00 my truck was making a new noise on the opposite side. After attempting to call **** and set up something I was ignored and had to call another Midas to check out my vehicle. The structs were not put on right and he stripped a nail or screw that i was not informed about tried to patch it up did not tighten up the screws on the axel which is very dangerous. The Midas that fixed the issues still calling my asking for more money for something else that they say was needed in the beginning just asking for more money from a company that did not deliver in the beginning. Trying to separate themselves from the Midas that did the work instead of taking responsibility because the share the same name.

    Good Morning,

the complaint that we received yesterday so i am responding now. The customer had the struts replaced and the sway bar links as well at the university location. the next day she stated she was hearing noises. came back to the university store and they told her that they could not look at it that day. she then went to the Glen location where they took her right in to check the noise. Once they found the issue they called me immediately. I then personally reached out to the customer to apologize and let her know not only were we going to fix the issue from University but we were also going to replace both lower control arms at no charge. I made her aware that she was also was in need of tires which she stated she was aware. The Glen store fixed both lower control arms at NC also replaced the left front strut and link pin as well. When she picked up her car she was happy, the tech also told her that if she wants to bring the tires back we would install them at No charge to her. she thanks him. the cost of the repair for the lower control arms and the alignment was a $925.00 repair we did for her.  when she left she thanked the store Ms. ***** was happy, i see that the complaint was filled on 3/1. We Repaired the car for her on the on 3/1 at no charge. I have attached both repair invoices so you have the copies. Any questions please let me know.'

I paid for an oil change and was told that I had other issues. I came back later to get them fixed and to add wipers.I was then told I needed a ball joint (one). It cost as much as the brakes. When I left my car was doing the same as before. I took my car somewhere else to be inspected. I was told I needed the same thing that I had allegedly had replaced right down to the wiper blades and oil change that was 2 quarts low. Midas’ response to my complaint was…I will give you a quote. They want me to pay them again for what they didn’t do in the first place. The second place said that doing my oil change with Midas they should have noticed what was really needed although I didn’t tell them who did it. My belief is Midas lied to get my money knowing my car would still be doing the same thing and hoped I would be stupid enough to pay them double. Midas said I needed rear brakes and rotors when I actually needed front brakes and rotors and when my car was inspected I was told that and also told that my back brakes were fine but not new. I asked how long it would take for my back brakes to be at the percentage of wear that they had and was told that it would take 3-5 years to be at that percentage and Midas supposedly had put them on exactly one week and 2 days before.

Customer came in on 8/12/23 at 192,721 miles for an oil change. Upon our visual inspection we found the rear brake pads were worn down and recommended rear pads and rotors. Customer declined the brake repairs at that time. No test drive was performed because this is not normal procedure with oil change apointments and customer did not inform us of any brake complaints at this time. On 11/4/2023 at 194,881 miles (over 2,000 miles later) customer returned requesting to have the previous recomeneded brake job done and requested wiper blades. Customer did not inform us of any brake issues she was experiences at that time. Visual inspection we found that the right upper ball joint was loose and needed replaced and the rear brake pads were very thin. Gave the customer a quote and the customer approved the repair. The front brakes were not recommended on either visit because the front brake pads were visibly thick. On 11/7/23 the customer called and stated "The brakes are still doing the same thing as before." I informed the customer there was never a brake complaint listed from the cusotmer and the rear brakes were recommended from a visual inspection months ago due to visible thickness of the rear pads. Then I asked what are the brakes doing. Customer said they are causing a vibration in the steering wheel when braking. That is an indication that the front brake rotors have parallell thickness variation (commonly refered to as warped front rotors). I then told the customer I'll see what I can do on a price for her and call her back but that sounds like its gonna need front brake rotors. So then I wrote an estimate for front brakes and for customer satisfaction offered to do the brake labor for free if the customer covered the cost of the front brake parts. I called the customer back, was sent to voicemail and left a detailed messages stating that we can give her free labor if she covers the cost of the brake parts. I also sent an email quote to the customer email on file. Got no response and the next day called the customer again but got no answer. The next day after not hearing back from the customer I closed out the estimate.

When I received an oil change from Midas, they did say that I needed rear brake pads and rotors. Why didn’t they see that my front rotors is what was really needed…not the rear. They noticed that I needed a ball joint but couldn’t see that my front rotors were warped??? I don’t think so. They clearly saw what was really needed and saw an opportunity to screw me twice. How can Midas be under my car with all my tires off and see rear damage but not the severe damage in the front. They told me that they were going for safety first which means they knew my front rotors were warped. Also. I had my car inspected by another company and was told that I needed front brakes and rotors and windshield wipers. I asked how my rear brakes looked and they said fine but not 100%. I asked how long would it take for my rear brakes to be worn to the percentage that they were and their answer was three to five years. My reply was, how about a week? This was one week from when Midas was suppose to put brakes and rotors on the rear. They did not do any brake work to my car and they charged me for wiper blades that I didn’t get. Now they are lying to cover their *****. I have gone all the way back to 10/14/2023 and there are no voicemails from Midas. When I called them to report that my car was still doing the same thing I was told that I could get a quote for more pretend work. I politely ended the phone call. Why would I agree to being ripped off again?

This is an amendment to my previous response. Midas did send an email on 11/7/2023. There was a quote. There wasn’t anything explaining why it wasn’t seen in the first place which still leads me to believe it was all a con.

On 10/18/2022 I went to Midas in **** ** ******. I spent almost $3,000 getting brand new brakes, and tires for my van. 2 weeks later, the brake pedal went all the way down to the floor. I took it back in, and they bled the brakes for no charge since it was covered under the warranty. That lasted about 2 more weeks, and I had to take it in again. I took it in 4 times. On the last one, they replaced the master cylinder. About a week and a half later, the brake pedal was on the floor again. Then right before Christmas, the van wouldn't start at all. I went for 6 months without driving it. I got that issue taken care of elsewhere, and went back to Midas last week due to the brakes again, and I also had a flat tire. They replaced valve stems on 3 different tires. Tires that I had just purchased from them. They told me they could not fix the brakes because there is a part that needs replaced that has been discontunued. So they called me to come pick up the van and take it home, giving me the number for the part so I can find it on my own. The worst part is, they whoever put the tires back on the van did NOT tighten the lug nuts on the front driver's side tire. The wheel almost fell off on my way home. I had to pull into the mall parking lot, and my husband tightened them for me with a tool he had in his car. Before he did that, he showed me how he could turn them all by hand because they were so loose. I am reporting all this so that it doesn't happen to someone else.
