This organization has serious deficiencies in its handling of claims for its policy holders.
Both myself and my sister received a claim forms packet from this organization in the mail that requested their claim forms be filled out and returned to them to make a claim on her Guaranteed Issue LIfe policy (all done by us via USPS Certified mail). Because there was a third beneficiary, my other sister phoned in to request a claim packet as well which she has yet to receive. Then today 2/24/2025 I returned a call to a person from their claims dept. who said that the claim packet forms had been mailed out in ERROR (both packets) because my mother had terminated the policy on Nov. 16, 2023 and they had sent a letter confirming that cancellation. As her executor, I have looked in her files for such a letter and none was to be found. Since my mother was born in the depression, she saved every mailing from companies including the marketing info. so I find it hard to believe that she would throw out such a notification letter from them. Seems pretty convenient for them that they are now saying that they don't have to pay out anything but, as her heir, nowhere do I have anything in writing received from them indicating her cancellation. And the only person who could dispute this is dead. How convenient. I have no recourse except to spread the word about the sloppiness of this company's administration and the suspicious circumstances around this unpaid claim. I encourage other teachers to look for insurance coverage elsewhere as this coverage doesn't appear to be worth the paper it is written on. But at least we helped the USPS' bottom line by spending $30+ in Certified mailing fees. I would have given this company a ZERO star rating but I didn't appear to have that option online.

RE: Response to BBB Customer Review - Lee G******
    Dear Sir/Madam:
We have reviewed the BBB Customer Review submitted by Lee G*******. P**** ********* is the third-party administrator for the NEA Members Insurance Trust. Ms. Stephanie G****** was an insured member until November 1, 2023, when we received Ms. G******'s written request to cancel.
Unfortunately, due to human error, we did in fact send out claim forms to Ms. Lee G****** and her sister upon receiving notification of her mother's passing. We deeply regret causing Ms. G******'s family any consternation or inconvenience.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 3*********** ** *****************************.
    Sincerely,
    P**** *********
