Following a recent water loss, our ***** **** claim adjuster recommended some additional work to the plumbing in our laundry room to prevent future losses. We called J.C. Dillon Inc. as ***** **** indicated that they were on their "preferred list," A technician came to our home on Wednesday morning, March 26 to replace some pipe and clean up some corrosion around the water shut off valves to our washer/dryer. We did not need to use the washing machine again until Saturday morning March 29. We found when the cycle had finished that approximately an inch of water had been deposited into our basement. We later discovered that the technician had failed to replace the washing machine's drain hose into the drain when he finished thus causing the water to flood our basement. As a result, we had to incur the cost of calling ******* to our home to remediate the water damage. Dillon is not responding to our requests to deal with the expense of the water remediation and is continuing to ignore and put off my calls and messages since the loss occurred on Saturday, and I am being forced to file yet another claim with my insurance for an incident that was not my fault as I cannot afford to pay the loss out of my own pocket. I do not yet know the total cost of the remediation but it will be at least $3000.Customer Answer

My mother (and co-owner of the home) received a text from Mr Dillon this morning stating that the technician had not removed the waste water drain hose from the drain. This is a lie. As part of the project, the technician cleaned up the hot and cold water shut off valves for the washer and dryer and the waste water drain hose is directly in between them. He would have needed to remove it to clean up the corrosion around the valves. We had been using the washer up until the technician came last week without incident and had not touched it after he left until my mother used the washer Saturday morning. I have attached a picture taken Saturday afternoon showing the drain hose hanging free as well as the paid invoice from the job and a picture of what the drain hose looked like AFTER I replaced in in the drain. Mr Dillon claimed that it must have popped out. It is not possible that it accidentally popped out, it extends into the drain by 7 or 8 inches and I had to work at it to get it back in. We have lived in the home for 50 years and have never had any problem with the drain hose slipping out of the drain.

Wed 3-26-25 morning around 7am: Our plumber replaced (1) water line in basement wall. The material & labor (3hrs) was billed and paid for w/ check after work was completed and before plumber left customer house.
Sat 3-29-25 12:45pm: We received a voicemail on our company mailbox about a water leak in the basement. I called back & requested some pictures & after receiving text pictures her & I talked thru as it appeared the washer drain hose was the issue. I told her to install drain hose from washer to main drain and I would talk to my plumber further. After getting out of church Saturday evening, I was not able to reach plumber, so I talk to him Monday 3-31-25. During our conversation, the customer mentioned about recently having ******* cleanup other water issues in the basement, but we did not talk any further on the culprit of those water issues.
Tues 4-1-25: I followed up with customer and informed her that after talking thru w/ my plumber, he informed me that he did not remove washer drain hose. He only replaced (1) water pipe in wall as requested. I am not sure about previous water issues in the basement, but curious as what the culprit of those were.
Thanks!

I am rejecting this response because:
The prior incident in which ******* was involved was completely resolved over 2 weeks ago and unrelated to this incident. We have been using the washing machine without incident ever since ******* finished their work in our home. Pursuant to that claim, our ***** **** adjuster, Mr. **** ******** had come to our home to review the damage and at that time noticed that some pipes in the wall behind the washing machine as well as the hot/cold water shut off valves to the washing machine had some corrosion build up. He pointed it out to us and recommended that we call a plumber to replace the pipes and valves in order to prevent future damage to our home. He noted that Dillon was on ***** ****'s preferred provider list, and suggested we call them. We set up an appointment for Dillon to come and do this preventative work. When the technician arrived, we explained what Mr. ******** had recommended, and when the technician was finished, he specifically pointed out that he had replaced the pipes but had only cleaned up the valves as he felt that would be sufficient and full replacement was not necessary. Due to the placement of the wastewater drain hose between the valves, he would have had to remove the valves in order to inspect and clean them up. Further, the technician's hot/cold valves is noted on the paid invoice, which I will note has never been mailed to me in hard copy. I had to call the office and request a copy via email. As already noted, we had been using the washer without incident prior to Dillon's visit, and in the 50 years we have lived in the home, we have never had any problems with the water drain hose coming out of the pipe as it extends 7-8 inches into the pipe. Throughout this matter, Mr. Dillon has been dismissive and unprofessional. He refuses to return my phone calls or speak with me when I call his office and conveyed his denial of responsibility via a text message to my 76-year-old mother. I emphatically reject his response regarding this incident.Business Response

I responded & talked to the customer a couple times, along w/ corresponding thru a few text that Saturday after she called. As noted prior, I talked w/ our plumber & he said the drain was intact when he was out on Wed 3-26-25. After reviewing pictures she texted me on Saturday, I saw the washer hose was out of main drain line. l let her know that I was not sure what happened, but I gave her step by step directions on the phone on how to install washer pump hose back into the main drain. I am not sure what happen, but our plumber is conscious of his work & I trust his word. Thanks !Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
Mr. Dillon states that he has talked to us a couple times about this matter in addition to texting us on the day it happened. This is false. On the day of the event, we left 3 messages before he called us and was very dismissive, telling us to text him pictures and only communicating via text thereafter. I left several messages with his assistant who assured me that he would return my calls to discuss this matter, and I have NEVER received a call back. Other than the 2 responses received from him through the BBB complain portal. The only direct response we have received from him as been a text message to my 76 year old mother in which he denied any culpability. I have spoken with several other plumbers about this matter, including my ***** **** adjuster, who is a former plumber himself. All have stated that the likelihood of the waste water hose coming out of the drain pipe is extremely low outside of human intervention. Moreover, if the hose had come out spontaneously, it would have spewed water upward on the wall, ceiling, and washer as it popped out, and there was NO water on the wall, ceiling, or washer indicating that this had happened, only on the floor. I am appalled at the treatment we have received from Mr. Dillon, and I refuse to accept his response.Initial Complaint

Called ******** ***** ********* I believe it was for a repair to a water line that was leaking inside my home that is also attached to a spicket outside my home. JC Dillion was contracted 08/25/2023 to do the work the boy that came out put in a new shut off valve and repaired the leak. but the shut off valve was put on top of the line when the previous one was on the side. also the spicket that was attached out side was crooked. after view the spicket I seen that is was crooked and I tried to call him back to inform him that I was not satisfied that it was crooked he never answered. so I called the office and I told her that my spicket was crooked and she say well I can tell you we can definitely fix but it not covered and you have to pay, why would I have to pay to get my spicket back the way it was initially. when he was repairing the line he actually went out side and turned the spicket and now it crooked. when I talked to him he said it was going to be alright and that if he tightened it anymore it would crumble. I called ******** ***** ********* and she tried to sell me another plan that would cover that SCAM SCAM. I just want my spicket straight and no leaks inside.......
