This all started when we signed up for Spring Green care back in April 2021, the manager came out and looked at my lawn and gave me a price after I told him my concerns of my lawn and was told none of them were a problem. So we signed up for basically full service and I also worked with them the first year to get my results. I rented and manually dethatched my lawn, which I was told would help, I also got 1-1/2 yds. of black dirt and manually spread it in the section of my lawn to level it out. At the end of the first year, things did not work out as planned so I paid for overseeding of Kentucky blue grass seed. Following spring of 2022, I didn't notice grass seed taking very well in the raw black dirt. They came out and looked a few times per my request and then decided to do a slit seeding at no charge to me, since the Kentucky blue grass didn't take and gave me a date of June 2022, which that day came and left, on and off text messages all summer long until Sep. 2022 when the assistant manager of Spring Green contacted me and once again promised me he would be out in a few weeks for the slit seeding that I waited all summer for. And just like the manager, it never happened. ******** excuses and false promises. I do have all the text messages between the manager and the assistant manager. At the end of the 2nd season 2022, I requested a full refund. I believe I paid a total of $719.68, not including the other things I did to help him get the results I was promised. I received a refund of $406.24 and the lawn that is in worse shape than when they started. I'm reminded of this every day when I look out at my front yard and see mud.

Spring Green is dedicated to quality service.  We apologize that we did not meet Mr. ***** expectations of us and that we also did not communicate effectively with *********** regarding scheduling and completion of the promised slit seeding to help the bare areas fill in.  We would like to thank ************ for his previous trust and allowing us to make this matter right by mailing a refund check for the remaining $313.44.

I am rejecting this response because: Even though I would gladly take the rest of the refund, I feel they made my lawn worse over the last 2 years and it would cost me even more to get it back to where it was.  It is now very uneven which is also the reason they were going to slit seed it because it would have helped even out the lawn. I don't feel I'm asking too much after waiting 2 years for them to come out and fix what they promised to do for my lawn in the beginning and I would also like to be a priority and not have to wait all year/season to have it done.

      Sincerely,

      ***********************, Sr>

      Business Response

In addition to processing the previously offered refund, the branch manager has reached out to ************ and we've agreed to perform a free slit seeding in order to help the lawn get closer to **************** expectations for his lawn.  We are planning to complete this slit seeding towards the end of April, as long as the weather allows us to and soil conditions are good.  If we cannot complete this service in late April, we will continue to communicate with ************ to reschedule the slit seeding until it's been completed.

I have used Spring green for lawn care service for 2-3 years now and each year I pay up front for the entire years service. This year I was not going to use them. I place no call for their service. I have received a bill for $430 for one application of weed control (in January). I called to see why I received this when no service was ordered and they stated it is a reoccurring service. NO contract with them has been signed by me, they say they put that on the invoices ( I pay annually and did not see that on the last bill I paid). I was provided rude customer service along with this and I do not wish to pay for this bill for work not ordered, let along work in January when weeds are not even growing. Spring Green has now threatened to send me to collections. I am asking for help in resolving this matter. I am looking to have the bill zeroed out and no further contact from this company. I have worked hard to have perfect credit and do not want it messed up by a company providing work that was not ordered. I could have sold this home and they would still bill me?

****************** sites in his complaint that Spring Green had been servicing his lawn for the past 2-3 years. In each of those years, the customer was not asked to sign a contract to renew.Rather, the lawn care industry standard practice is to renew the book of business year over year until the homeowner cancels their service. This is accomplished first by offering the customer two annual prepay letters with discounts, typically around November and January, which ****************** appears to have taken advantage,or if the year is not prepaid the service continuation letter sites the service will continue but at regular price.

We take our business very seriously and do not wish to burden anyone who does not want to receive our service. After reviewing the complaint, *******************, LLC respects Mr. ******** feelings about the cancellation. I have caught this company charging me for work they say the performed on my property only to watch my cameras to see them not fully doing the work or only doing a portion of my yard yet then billing me for the full service. I had them come out to do an aeration and overseeding in the fall of 2022. After complaining to them that they didn't actually do the work they responded with a text that the owner was going to actually walk the yards himself to make sure it was done and if not they would redo it. He has never come out and they never redid the yard yet tried to bill me for it. After telling them over and over that I will not pay for a service I did not get they sent the bill to collections to hit my credit report and hurt my score. This is the 3rd or 4th time that they have tried to bill me for services not completed.

      Business Response

      Date: 01/31/2023

The core aeration and seeding that ************************ is referring to was completed on October 12th, 2022.  On October 17th, *********************** texted the local office, concerned that he did not see holes and seeds on the entire property.  That same day, the office replied to ************************* text, explaining that the seed used is the same color of dirt and very hard to see, but, as Spring Green guarantees their service, someone would be by in November to check on the germination of the seed and watering practices.

Unfortunately, due to the past due balance on the account from 2 completed mosquito treatments and 1 lawn care application, the account was placed on hold.  As a result,Spring Green was unable to complete the check on the seed in November.  Spring Green does request that services completed be paid upon completion to avoid delay or disruption of services, which is stated in writing on all Spring Green invoices, emails, and some other documentation that the customer receives.  In addition to this general request, it was communicated via text to ************************ on October 18th, November 10th,and November 29th that he had a past due balance.  On December 1st, Spring Green emailed ************************ the statement for the account, again requesting payment.  ************************ replied to that email via email, asking what the balance was for, to which Spring Green replied that the balance at that time was for 2 mosquito treatments, the core aeration and seeding, and the round 6 of our lawn care program.  ************************ replied on December 2nd via email that he would be making a payment once back in town later that night.  On December 7th, having not yet received a payment, Spring Green texted ************************ about the balance.

On January 21st, 2023, ************************ emailed stated that he tried to pay online but was unable to, that the core aeration and seeding was not completed in the back yard according to his cameras, and requested that he be contacted by noon the following day or he would be contacting his attorney. On January 22nd, the local Spring Green office replied to ************************* email, notifying him that this was the first time hed indicated that we did not service the backyard, that we have GPS tracking that indicates that the backyard was completed, and that wed be happy to call him the next day to accept payment over the phone if he was unable to make a payment online.  On January 22nd and 27th, ************************ emailed Spring Green, continuing to dispute the owed balance due to his camera footage not showing that backyard was completed.  On January 27th,Spring Green replied to Mr. ********* email, explaining the reason for the due balance, the guarantee of the aeration and seeding, and why we are confident that the aeration and seeding was completed correctly.

As of the morning of January 31st, neither Spring Green nor the collections agency has received payment on the disputed balance.  Should ************************ pay his balance in full and bring his account back into good standing, Spring Green can visit the property in mid-April 2023, after the grass comes out of dormancy, and review the results of the aeration and seeding completed on October 12th, 2022, working with ************************ as needed to help ensure that he is satisfied that the service was completed correctly and hes satisfied with the results.

I am rejecting this response because:

Their response is a complete and utter lie. *** caught them cheating me and playing these games before and I have proof of that. I also have proof that they did not complete the work in my yard for the aeration. I do not want the service anymore and I will not pay them so that they can come out now after they lied and do the work. I just want this charge removed from my account and go our separate ways.

We had lawn service though spring lawn service out of ***** **. I prepaid for my service for aeration and 5 visit with 2 free visit. Since the new Owners has taken over it has been bad and unorganized. I've had to call them each visit to tell them I don't owe them anything because I was prepaid. The lady I talked to seem to have an attitude Also before each visit they should of called to let me know they were coming the next day and they have not they just showed up. If I knew I would of been charged the last time then I won't of let them come. This last visit I called them to tell them that I shouldn't owe anything and that I'm prepaid. The women who I spoke with had an attitude and told me I owe money. No I shouldn't because when I signed up it said I get my last two visits for free! Also the weed killer they used didnt kill my weeds I still have them and it killed my lawn all year! I feel like I've been lead on about being prepaid and getting 2 free lawn services. Also my lawn still has weeds and the weed killer or lawn fertilization killed my lawn!

      Business Response

      Date: 11/11/2022

This complaint is for one of our independently owned locations.  We have reached out to the owner, who responded with the information below.

To Whom It May ****************** February 2, 2022, ********************* prepaid $409.65 on a property at **********************************************. in ******** **.  The square footage of that property was **** square ft. and that was the price she prepaid for.  Then on April 11, 2022, she called in to switch the same services she had which included a ********* Program and a Core Aeration, to a different address of 356 *********. in ******** which has a square footage of **** sq ft.  We took the prepay money she paid of $409.65 and moved it to the new address.  The first service at the Skagit address started on April 25, 2022.  With the difference in the square footage of the new property at Skagit than the ************ address, the price per sq. ft in which she paid, went up because it was based on the ************ address and the Skagit address was **** sq.ft. larger!

I do not know if she was told that when she called in to say she moved and to switch the prepay money, or, if she was told that the prepay money would show a credit until all the money was used up, then she would have to pay the difference.  That is why the last invoices showed a balance due.  In talking with the office staff, ***** called in and asked why she had a balance and they tried to explain it to her, and she didnt want to hear it because she said she had prepaid, and ***** was mad about the balance due and felt we lead her on?

As far as the 5 visits and 2 free, I dont know what that is or where she got that from.  The prepay money was received by ******************* (the prior owners) on February 7th, 2022, and it does not show on the account anywhere that ***** put in, that she got 2 free, plus she didnt have it last year for 2021.

As far as the pre-calling before we show up, I show the old address of ************ being a Call Ahead, the new address on Skagit St., for whatever reason, does not show it needs a Call Ahead.  I dont know if we didnt ask or if we were told no call ahead was needed but she received 7 visits to her address his year and not once did she ever call in to say to please inform her before we come out.

As far as the weed killer shes talking about, enclosed is a picture taken in April 2022 &posted on Zillows website, of the house on Skagit and what it looked like before we took it over.  It shows the lawn is clearly distressed and the lawn was in poor shape when we took it over. Then see attached photos taken November 10, 2022 which shows the lawn covered in leaves but much greener and in better shape.  There are a few spots on the side yard where it looked that it was scalped by a lawn mower.  We could not get visual of the backyard as there was a fence but other than that, we saw no other indications of a stressed lawn.  So, I dont know what she is referring to when she says we killed her lawn?

In conclusion, her services were the same for each property and if she has proof that she should have gotten 2 free services from the prior owners, we will honor that if she can provide proof of that.   Also, I will add that when ***** did make a payment on her account for the outstanding balance owed, she overpaid it and now it shows a credit of $47.93.

      Sincerely,
      ***********************

Spring Green charged me $56.95 for an application not received. There was no bill left on my door which was done each time before. There were no flags left on my lawn which was done each time before.I spoke with 3 different people ( ************ and *****) at three different times. They told me there is a GPS on the truck and this is proof that service was rendered.I told ***** that neither my mother nor I witnessed Spring Green apply their Early Summer ******* Pls Total Lawn Insect Control on 7/11/2022.Both **** and ***** offered to charge me 50% off.I tried to explain that paying half price for something they did not receive is just WRONG.***** wanted me to pay this over the phone. I insisted Spring Green send me another statement with the change. But the more i think about it i am disgusted with this company! I want Spring Green to remove the charge for services they did not provide. I feel as though i am being bullied.

      Business Response

The customer called in on 7/21/2022 to pay her balance, as she received a statement in the mail. Once the **************** Professional told the customer the balance, she stated the Early Summer ******* Plus and the Total Lawn Insect Control were not done on 7/11/22.The **************** Professional did review the applications, and all information indicated they were completed correctly on the correct lawn. The **************** Professional went on to explain that Spring Green guarantees our services through free service calls, and we can set up a service call to reapply the applications. Rather than setting up a service call, the customer chose to cancel the account. As a courtesy, the **************** Professional did offer to split the balance. Before receiving a clear answer, the customer disconnected the call.

The customer called back in on 8/22/22 and spoke to another **************** Professional, requesting the account be documented, as she was still disputing the charges for the applications she believed were not completed. She refused to pay half of the balance and the **************** Professional let her know the balance will remain on the account.

The customer called again on 9/20/22 and spoke to a third **************** Professional disputing the charges. Again, the customer was told on our end the applications were done but we did agree to the split the balance with her. The customer did agree to pay half. A credit of $30.20 was applied to the customers account on 9/20/22, and an updated statement was emailed to the customer on 9/21/22.

In light of the former customer's continued dissatisfaction with ********************'s offered resolution,Spring Green has credited the remaining $28.47 owed for the completed service, and, as of 9/21/22, has mailed an updated statement, reflecting the $0 balance.

Spring Green apologizes for not completing the core aeration and overseeding on 8/24/22, as previously agreed upon, and for not proactively reaching out to our customer regarding needing to reschedule.  The core aeration with overseeding has been rescheduled for 9/8/22.  We will ensure that the core aeration with overseeding is completed on 9/8/22, as long as weather allows.

I informed Spring Green Lawn that I had a particular weed issue in my yard even after they had applied my first service. They informed me that it was called, "Nutsedge" weed and that they would put me on the expedited list to get rid of this. They returned on July 11th and treated my lawn once again and left a **** on my door per usual. The Nutsedge weed is gotten even worse in my yard after this treatment it did not rid of the issue. I have left several voicemails and sent multiple messages through their website contact form about this with NO RESPONSE! I should not be made to pay this **** since they did not treat the issue and they should be made to do what they promised and get rid of the issue!

The service provider showed up to apply a fertilizer application to my lawn. He drove alongside my house, never entering the backyard. He also drove the machine down my sidewalk and back and did not fertilize the lawn. The company stated that his equipment was malfunctioning. If this is true, then why did the service provider then go to the house across the street and do a full application there? Either the house across the street did not get what they paid for or the service provider just didn't want to do my house. I have the entire 30+ minutes on surveillance video that can be provided for both locations.

The technician went out to apply Summer ******* Fighter lawn care application on 7/20/22 and he was unable to fit his machine into the back yard due to the size of the gate. As the technician didnt have smaller equipment on his truck that was in proper condition, they were unable to do the scheduled application.

The technician was able to treat the neighbors lawn because they did not have a gate restricting the passage of the larger equipment.

The customer called into the customer service department on 7/20/22 and spoke to a *********** Professional who did reach out to the technician to see if they could go back and treat the whole lawn. However, as the technician did not have smaller, functional equipment on the truck that would fit through the gate into the back, they would not be able to complete the service and it would need to be rescheduled.

The customer called again to see if the technician would be going back to treat the lawn and he was notified the application would be rescheduled. The *********** Professional did put a rush on the application and let the customer know his application would be done within 5/7 business days weather permitting.

The application was completed on 7/22/2022, and the customer paid for the service that same day.

I am rejecting this response because:

#1 - You have been here before with the same equipment and did not have any issues. I have had your service for over 3 years and the gate has been there for 10 years.

#2 - I have had companies come out with equipment twice the size of your spreader and they fit in the gate without issues. The gate is 4 feet wide

#3 - The technician could have come to the door to explain the situation

      Sincerely,

      *********************

I recently paid $96.23 for a fertilizer application and a grub killing application. These two applications were applied on July 1st 2022. Now my lawn is about completely dead. There has been rain in the area since the application and only my lawn has this issue. I have tried to reach out to Spring-Green but am still awaiting a representative to come out and see the damage. The customer contacted ******************** on 7/8/22 regarding the ***** areas. A free service call was set up at that time and customer was provided a timeframe of 5 to 7 business days for that service call to be completed.
The service call was scheduled for 7/12/22 and the technician did visit the property, however he was unable to diagnose the ***** areas and would have a manager out at a later date.

The branch manager spoke with the customer on the property on 7/14/22 and diagnosed multiple issues:

The lawn has 2 different diseases: Ascochyta Blight and Leaf Spot. The branch manager explained to the customer why a lawn gets these and how to get it to recover, primarily through proper cultural practices such as watering and mowing.

Some areas of the lawn have chinch bugs. The Total Lawn Insect Control was applied on 7/1/22 and will kill off the chinch bugs, allowing the lawn to recover.

The grass is being mowed with dull mower blades. The branch manager explained the importance of a sharp blade and the effect that a dull blade can have on grass, as well as having the potential of help create some diseases. When the customer informed the branch manager that the neighbor uses the same landscaper, the branch manager was able to point out that the neighbor had similar issues.

The branch manager explained the grass is being cut a little too short for the high temperatures that we have been experiencing and explained the importance of keeping a higher grass blade.

The branch manager discovered signs of drought stress. This, along with the issues previously mentioned make it difficult for the lawn to survive or recover. The customer stated he has yet to turn on his irrigation system for the year. The branch manager recommended that he water at least 2 times a week for about 30 minutes in each zone, as this will help the grass recover.

The branch manager will be back out the first part of August to reassess the lawn and talk further. At the end of the visit, the customer seemed satisfied.
