We hired Midwest Stone is install a countertop in our laundary room. The cost for the project was $1,844. Midwest Stone installer came in to take measurements and told us we needed to install support to hold the countertop up. We had a contractor that Midwest Stone recommends come out to review the space. He told us and Midwest Stone that the space would not accommodate adding support and nothing could be done to complete this. Therefore, the countertop is unable to be installed. Midwest Stone cashed our $1,844 check on June 1st, and as of 6/29/23 has not returned our money. The contractor that determined support could not be added to the space communicated to Midwest Stone on June 23rd. I have politely requested my money back and they have not done so. We need help with getting our $1,844 back from Midwest Stone and would appreiate help.

    Business Response

    Date: 07/10/2023

Customer purchased laundry room countertops. We completed a field measure on 6/7/2023 in which we informed the homeowner verbally and in writing they would need to add supports to help hold the countertop prior to the new countertop installation.   The new countertop was completed and we showed up to install as agreed on 6/19/2023.  The installers arrived and the homeowner had not completed the necessary support structure needed to install the countertop.

We emailed the homeowner to call us to reschedule the installation once they have the support structure completed.  Although we are not hired as a general contractor or under contractual obligation we attempted to help them find different support options (some of which they declined) and recommended a contractor.

Attached is the signed shop ticked from field measure .

Once the support is installed Midwest Stone will install the fabricated countertop.
