      1/19/2023 I reached out to **** at 7pm at Axel towing stating I needed a tow. Told him that engine was seized. Driver showed up with a hauler instead of a flat bed tow truck. I was told he would need to send another driver with a flat bed. 3 hours later at 10:30pm he texted me that I owed him $1022.I asked why it was so much since it was only about **************************** the following break down:Service call 1st truck $187.50 Flat bed hook up $295 42 towed miles $294. $40 tolls $116.48 Fuel surcharge $50 Clean off bed at car wash. $39.32 4% card fee These fees don't coincide with any norm or standards. I called 4 other tow companies to compare and all stated the fee should be $200-$300 at most.Nothing adds up. Tolls aren't that much. It is only $1.50 at the exit. Mileage is incorrect, nearly double. If I'm paying by mile, why is there also a fuel surcharge? Why do I pay to have a tow truck washed for $50? Where is this done in winter at 11pm at night? No companies charge $7 per mile When I questioned **** he told me to pay up or he would impound the vehicle and it would end up costing me an additional $1000 or more to get it released.I believe I was extorted late in the evening and over charged and also threatened with even more charges. I offered to pay a fair fee that would align with other tow company quotes. He refused and said again to pay the $1022 or the driver would leave with my vehicle and impound it. I believe this business should have its license revoked, as it is a predatory business. They have roughly 40 additional reviews with similar stories of extortion and predatory behavior.
