I ordered a custom stone and received it damaged. I contacted Design a Stone and they sent me a new one right away. I was very impressed. Then I received the 2nd stone and same thing, Damaged. Design a Stone sent me another stone. I received the 3rd stone...ONCE AGAIN THIS IS DAMAGED. I contacted again...by the way you can only contact them via email.. I have not heard back from anyone there. It has been 2 weeks now and not a response...Each time I provided pictures as well.

On 11/26/23, I ordered a large address stone for $233.23. On order, I indicated in the notes that I wanted to ensure the address was centered and appropriately placed since the address seemed very long on the preview page. Upon delivery on 12/1/23, I was thrilled to see that the address looked good and placed well; however, the color was almost black and NOT grey, and the shape of the stone looked nothing like what was online or very “natural.” I immediately sent an email on 12/2/23 with my concerns and received a response from ****** stating, “Please note that we can't guarantee the shape of the stone that you will receive. However, the stone's color should not be like this; we're sorry for the inconvenience. I've requested for the replacement to be processed and shipped”. I was very reassured and pleased to see that the company was very willing to fix the mistake AND even expedited the second stone to get it to me as it was a birthday gift. Upon receiving the second stone, things only became worse. The company changed how the address looked & was placed from the first stone; the color is still NOT grey, the spacing between letters was inconsistent or crooked, and the spacing on either side of the address itself is off by more than a quarter inch. I sent MULTIPLE emails on 12/15, 12/16, 12/20, and 1/5/24 and made a couple of requests on their website's “contact us” page with ZERO RESPONSE! Honestly, this quite shocks me, considering how well the company initially handled the situation. I would like to have a replacement stone sent immediately that is done correctly, or if that is not possible, a full refund. Thank you.Business Response

On December 11, 2023 I ordered a stone from Design a Stone as a Christmas gift.
Order #*****, paid in full 152.25
I have reached out several times and haven’t received 2 responses , One saying it shipped, and one saying they would look into it.
It is now January 7, 2024 and I still have not received anything. When I reached out last week, I asked for a response ASAP, which I received, that it would be looked into. I have heard nothing.
I asked for a full refund, because I no longer want this product or to have any more dealings with this company.
I am disappointed that it has ended this way.

We purchased an address marker/stone from Design A Stone on November 24, 2023. The stone was received but there is a large cut out in the back of the stone and the side. I contacted Design A Stone and was told in one sentence....."there are natural inconsistencies in stone and this is normal". I have since tried to contact them on numerous occassions via email, phone, ******** page, ******** private messenger, their website ******* and no one will respond to me.
The cut out on our rock is NOT a natural inconsistency found in stone. For example:
**Natural inconsistencies will not have a "shape" to them. Our's is rectangular in shape as if a cookie cutter was used to hole punch the design in the back.
**Natural inconsistencies will not have straight lines. Ours has straight lines.
**Natural inconsistencies will not be uniform in shape/design. Ours has a uniform shape/design.
When viewed from the side it appears like there is a piece that has been broken off. We are not asking for our money to be returned. We are asking for a new stone to be provided that does not have a design flaw.
I also did not find anything on their website in regard to natural inconsistencies in stone being a possibility prior to ordering. In fact, their website states the following:
"All stones are made out of an enhanced high-strength concrete"
If the stones are made of concrete then there should be no inconsistencies such as a large cut out in ours. Natural inconsistencies would be if they were using stones from the earth. They are not. They are using concrete to fabricate these address markers. Therefore, there should be no large holes as is found in ours. I can provide photos to document this.
It appears other recent complaints with the Better Business Bureau have also centered around NO customer service available for this organization unfortunately. We would appreciate any assistance possible in getting this issue resolved.

I am rejecting this response because:
They have offered to send us a new rock. However, they will not respond to my emails, phone calls, ******** inquiries, etc. in order to begin this process. I am not closing out this claim until I have received a new rock from them.they also indicate in their response it is natural to have non-smooth surfaces on the stone. That is understandable. If you review the photos provided it is more than an unsmooth surface in our rock. It is a significant size hole or cut out in a uniform design. They also indicate on their website they make these markers from concrete so they are made with a mold. Therefore, there should not be a hole or cut out that looks like it was almost stamped out of the back of our marker.
We look forward to hearing from them about how to replace our marker. Once this has been received, we will then accept this claim and close it out.

I was merely waiting for the replacement stone to be arrive. Last night I received a tracking number from Design A Stone. Once the product is received and I have verified it's in good condition I'm more than happy to accept their resolution. However, if I have not received the product and/or verified the condition of it I don't think it's fair to say it's resolved. Just because the organization OFFERED to send me a replacement does not mean they handled the situation. I don't think it's correct to close this case......yet.
Signs are pointing towards they plan to resolve this, but again until a product arrives AND the condition of the product has been verified this is still outstanding. I think that is more than fair. I'm happy to report back once the product has arrived next week and indicate I accept the resolutuion.

I finally received the replacement product from Design a Stone. Unfortunately the bottom corner of the stone is broken. I have contacted Design a Stone directly about this, but as my previous attempt to contact them via email, phone and ******** they are not responding. I ordered a stone on 11/17/2023. In reviewing the order, I noted an address mistake and immediately emailed the company requesting a correction. I received a conformation from ****** asking for details which I provided noting, "Just want to make sure we get the correct address (which I provided)." I asked for, "Will that fit?" and ****** responded, "I have forwarded your request to our relevant team. " This all happened within 2 hours of placing the original order.
On 11/18/2023 I sent an email to ****** asking, "Will someone contact me? Would like to get this resolved before the order is processed." AND "I have sent multiple emails regarding the mistake on the order with repairs that were acceptable. Who can I speak with to get this resolved before the stone is cut with the address error?"
On 11/19/2023, I received an email from ******* (a new contact) noting, "No worries, we have forwarded your request to our relevant team."
On 11/21/2023, I emailed ******** noting, "No one has contacted me. Can I please get a phone number so I can speak with someone?"
On 11/22/2023 I received an email from ******** noting, "No worries, we have forwarded your request to our relevant team," No callback was received.
On 11/24/2023, the stone was delivered with an incorrect address I never approved.
On 11/27/2023 I emailed ******** noting that no had contacted me and that the stone had been delivered with the wrong address. ******* responded, "Thank you for contacting us. To assist you better, could you please provide us with a photo of the received item? Our team will then be able to coordinate and resolve the issue." I provided photos as requested.
On 11/30/2022, I emailed ******** noting, "I’ve not received any feedback (call or email) regarding corrective options on this order. Any idea of when I might expect some feedback?"
All additional emails to the company have gone unanswered.

While I'm pleased with the owners response and "commitment" to make this right, there has been NO response or action on the part of the company staff regarding this order. No one has contacted me and I have received on indication that anything has been corrected, processed or shipped.
It would be nice for someone to contact me and 1) confirm what it is they are shipping and 2) to provide tracking information to validate the shipment.
Given there is only 5 days to respond and the gracious owner response, I would expected to have been contacted by the company regarding this order by now. Please inform the owner that, while the intent is greatly appreciated, the lack of follow-through is not. It is however consistent with poor customer service we have experienced from the day we paced this order.
Hopefully this can be resolved soon...

On nov 8, 2023, I purchased an address stone from Design A Stone for $190.76. My order included a photo of the stone.
They CONFIRMED my order and their confirmation includes a photo of the stone but they then sent a stone with a different shape that i did not order or want.
I contacted them and it was clear that they weren't going to send another stone and i realized that they were not going to give me a full refund. Thus, i very reasonably offered to settle for a 50% refund ($95).
They have always been slow to repond despite the statement on their site (i even gave them my ph #).
They finally responded and requested a photo of the stone they sent to me. I promptly sent the photo they requested and, after 6 days of not hearing from them, i resent the requested photo 4 days ago (10 days from the first photo) but they no longer respond at all.
I have conducted myself in an ethical and affable manner.
Here is my last email to them:

I sent the photo you requested (as well as, once again, stating my unhappiness) 6!! days ago and re-sent it 3!! days ago.
i have been very patient and expected to hear from you well before now.
I am not asking for a new stone or a full refund (only because i know you will not do that without engaging in battle) and am willing to accept only a 50% refund ($95).
Frankly, i am surprised that a legitimate business is balking in regards to this very reasonable request to refund only 50% to a customer who did not get what i ordered and what you actually confirmed. I always tried to make my patients happy (i am a professor of medicine), don't you want happy customers?
i said earlier that i would MUCH rather have a simple, partial refund than file a complaint with the BBB as well as slam your business on yelp and other social media.
However, i am out of patience and if i don't hear from you today or by 2:00 tomorrow (11/21) afternoon, i will proceed with vigor.

3 - "I spoke with our customer service team and they said it was resolved." THAT IS DISINGENUOUS. AND I HAVE NEVER HEARD FROM THEM SINCE DESPITE THE FACT THAT I CONTINUED TO REPEATEDLY ASKED TO HEAR FROM THEM. THEY KNOW IT HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. Ordered stone, upon receipt you could see the painting was incomplete on the letter "M" making the letter look like a "R". Used form on website to contact, many times as well as emailed and went on ******** ad asking for customer service to contact me. On October 25th I did receive a request for photo which I sent. Several days later I sent email asking for response. Was told they did not have photo so I reset. On November 8th received email stating would coordinate with their relevent team and get back to me. To date, no response. I have emailed, left voicemail message, completed their online form, no response at all. Item was to be a gift, cannot give a defective item for a gift. On 10/22/2023 I placed an online order (order #*****) with Design a Stone for a monogrammed landscaping stone. The website allows you to preview the stone so that you know exactly what it will look like. I completed payment via ******.
About a week later I received the stone. Upon opening the box I noticed that the spacing of the letters was very inconsistent. Some letters were spaced wide while other letters were scrunched close together. In addition, the lettering was lopsided relative to the bottom straight edge of the stone. See attached photos of the previewed website photo and the actual stone I received. The stone I received looks nothing like the previewed photo that I relied on prior to making the purchase. The stone I received looks like it was lettered by a 3-year-old.
In the following days I sent Design a Stone three detailed messages, including photos, outlining my complaint. They have refused to respond. In addition to this BBB complaint, I am also in the process of filing a complaint with ******.Customer Answer

Design A Stone responded to this complaint, and they sent me a replacement stone. The replacement stone was properly done and shipped promptly. However, it should be noted that Design A Stone responded only after I had filed complaints with BBB and ******. These complaints with outside agencies are awkward and time-consuming. Much trouble would have been avoided had Design A Stone responded in a timely and professional manner to the initial messages I sent them prior to filing these complaints.
This business is not BBB accredited.
