Warning for Chicago Seniors and Homeowners About Contractor Scam I want to share an unfortunate experience to help protect others, especially seniors, from falling victim to similar scams. We hired ******* McNary for sewer, plumbing and bathroom remodeling work so that my 86-year-old father could safely return to his home. The signed contract with deposit and materials was paid April 3, 2025. Despite being paid in full for the Sewer and Plumbing work April 4, 2025, ******* claimed the work was completed but refused to provide any video or photographic proof of the crawl space repairs. When he eventually provided photos, they were not even from my fathers home ******* McNary is my ex-husband so my dad is his ex-father in law. To confirm our suspicions, we brought in a third restoration company to inspect the crawl space during a clean-up. It was then we discovered that the sewer line had never been replaced at all. This is not just frustrating but downright fraudulent. ******* ****** McNary has blocked me from all forms of communication and has threatened to place a lean on my fathers home when he has over $4,800 in material and deposit cost which we are entitled to a refund. Seniors and homeowners in *******, please be cautious and wary when hiring contractors. Always verify their work and credentials, and do not hesitate to seek a second opinion if something feels off. Make sure to protect yourselves and your loved ones from scams like this.

I am rejecting this response because materials and unearned labor associated with the contract I had with ******* McNary of McNary Construction Technology. After a thorough review of the work performed and an independent confirmation from a third-party mediation contractor, it is evident that the terms of the agreement were not met.

The work outlined in the contract was never fully performed, nor were all the required materials purchased.
The third-party mediation contractor verified that only a single piece of PVC was installed in the crawl space. The rest of the plumbing remains the original damaged system and does not connect to the Chicago city sewer as expected. Instead, it is improperly dumping waste into the crawl space.

    Poor Craftsmanship:
The bathroom subfloor compromised by termite damage was not fully removed as agreed. Instead, quick-setting concrete was applied over the compromised subfloor. This not only demonstrates poor craftsmanship but also creates a safety hazard for anyone using the bathroom which requires walking through the bathroom threshold.

    Summary of Complaint:
Given that the agreed-upon work was not completed and the craftsmanship does not meet reasonable standards, it is my firm stance that a refund is warranted to cover the costs of unearned labor and materials.
I would appreciate a prompt resolution to this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Queen ******** ****** (McNary)
