I took my car to LukeG *** Workshop because it did not start. I was initially told that the issue was the fuel pump and that it would take two days or less to fix. After not hearing back from them for three days, I called and was informed that the cause of the fuel pump being broken was the **** I was told that they would order a non-OEM ***, flash it with the required software, install it, and then my car would be ready to pick up. After not hearing back for another week and calling, I was told that they ordered the wrong version of the *** and that I could order the correct version on **** and have it shipped to them. When I saw that the new *** arrived, I asked when my car would be ready and was told they have to send it to another business, **************, to install the software. PerformanceECU told me they had not received any orders from LukeG *** Workshop and when I asked them about it, they told me they would place an order when the *** arrived at PrecisionECU. After asking PrecisionECU if they reviewed the ***, which was supposedly shipped the week prior (LukeG *** Workshop ignored my request for a tracking number), they said they had not received and were not expecting a *** in the mail. After confronting LukeG *** about it, I was told that my car should be ready in a couple days, which is the day I am writing this complaint. However, when I asked what time I could come get my car today, I was told that it might or might not be ready today. I have been waiting on LukeG *** Workshop for a month now, and every time I ask about my car, I am lied to and the person I talk to is rude. As I live far away and do not have access to public transportation, I have had to rent a car, which has cost a lot of money, and I had to return the rental car because they cannot rent it for more than a month. When I explained this to the mechanic from LukeG *** Workshop, he was rude and said that it is not his problem.Business Response

Reason for the delay with this vehicle service was due to delivery of used parts from 3rd party vendors, that were either incorrect or delayed by couriers, which LukeG Workshop had no control over.
Vehicle was serviced once all correct parts were received and or services by LukeG Workshop or PrecisionECU.
Client was reimbursed partial payment for vehicle rental, even though no agreement or contract was ever signed by client prior to their vehicle being dropped off for service.
Client signed a satisfactory service upon pick up of vehicle.

This car had the whole engine rebuilt. He had the car from late November 2021 and did not get the car back till April 26 2022. There were a few problems since the rebuild, also paid for them. The engine then blew a piston, and that is due to not having the bolts tightened (torque)to specs of the car. The engine is under warranty, but the starter went and had to get that fixed. Since it was a starter, I had a mechanic next to my house fix that. Then the engine went, the owner said I had let someone other mechanic work on the car. So someone could have touched the engine. We are supposed to have warranty on the engine. This was a starter, nothing do with any engine work. The car was towed to the ********** on 11/28/22 and the owner said he will not able to fix till March. I called the owner and stated it was unacceptable. He was very upset that I was calling and stating this is not right. I asked if I have to get an attorney involved. He stated can do what you have to do. I thought after that he may fix the car. My sons went to the car to get paperwork from the car on Feb 23 2023. The shop employee told my son to wait for the owner, he came and told my son to get the car out of the lot. He will not fix the car, since I threatened him with a attorney. I have spent more that ******* on this car, haven't had the car since they rebuilt the engine and no car.Now the engine which has the warranty, is not fixed. He just kept the car in his lot standing there. So the was taken out and does not work. Its Not derivable. I have spent lots of money and he is has left me with a non working car. I would have to by a new engine, because this car is not fixed.I also have the mechanic that fixed the starter, willing to help with any info needed.Business Response

Dear [CUSTOMER NAME],
We regret to inform you that we are unable to warranty your engine rebuild due to the fact that you had another shop work on your car after the rebuild was completed by our team. As per the terms and conditions of our warranty policy, any modifications or repairs made to the engine by a third party without our prior authorization voids the warranty. While you mention only third party work on the starter, upon receipt of the car and further inspection after it was towed back to our shop, we noticed that the crank bolt had been completely removed and was simply resting on the front cross-member.
We understand that you may have sought the services of another shop for various reasons, but it is important to note that such actions jeopardize the integrity of the work we performed. Additionally, we cannot guarantee the quality of the work performed by a third party, which may result in damage to the engine or related components. Our technicians has been trained to handle all engine rebuilds with the utmost care and professionalism, ensuring that all work is done to the highest industry standards. We stand behind our work and offer a comprehensive warranty for all engine rebuilds performed and maintained by our team. We can guarantee each and every fastener in the engine was torqued to factory specs upon rebuild. This stands as proof that the vehicle was driven for up to nine months without any issues related to the engine rebuild.
While we understand your disappointment in this matter, we cannot make exceptions to our warranty policy. We recommend that you bring your car to us for any future repairs or modifications to ensure that your engine continues to perform optimally.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
LukeG Workshop

I am rejecting this response because:This car was not worked on the engine. Obviously, we have warranty on the engine. I would not pay another shop to do anything on this engine having warranty. Whether the car was driven or not, the car has not exceeded the miles. Your shop is insinuating fault on my end which is false. We would never have any engine work done on this car by anyone. Your shop charged a lot of money. A lot of money for us. Your shops accusations are extremely frustrating and my concers are not taken seriously. I would like action to resolve this issue.
Sincerely,

The vehicle was delivered to the client (not the individual that place this complaint) after engine was refreshed due to spun bearing on 4/16/22 with ******* in full operation condition. Vehicle return back to the shop on 4/26/22 with ******* on board after after recommended engine break in period for oil & filter service. During this visit, all drivetrain and engine components were checked and verified to ensure that they were in working order. Vehicle was scanned for any fault codes, and none were present. Vehicle was released and driven from the shop in full operation condition. Vehicle returned back to shop for a coolant leak from the radiator on 7/12/22 with ******* miles on board. This issue was not related to the engine refresh process, since the radiator was not in need of replacement at the time. Service was completed successfully, cooling system tested to ensure no additional leaks were present and vehicle was released and driven from in full operational condition. On 11/29/22 the client contacted LukeG Workshop regarding the vehicle not starting, after it was taken to a different shop (name of shop was not disclosed by client) for a starter replacement. We were informed that the starter was replaced by that particular shop (name yet to be disclosed) yet the vehicle would still not start, so it was towed to LukeG Workshop on 11/29/23. While vehicle was still on the flatbed of the tow truck, we noticed a puddle of oil underneath, towards the front of the vehicle. Upon further inspection and diagnosis of the vehicle, it was determined the the crankshaft bolt was removed completely and placed in the harmonic balancer (also known as the crankshaft damper), and engine was seized. Since the vehicle was still under LukeG Workshop service warranty of ****** miles/12 months, which the client was aware of, it should've been brought back to our shop, to have it properly diagnosed and perform any/if repairs were needed, as done previously. Since client chose to bring the vehicle to another shop for misc. engine repairs, this voided the warranty that was still in effect.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:I have the other shop willing to testify on the minor work he had facilitated on the car. We did not pay 5k for someone else to work on the engine! Obviously we know we have a warranty, there would be no reason we would have someone do anything to the engine. Your shop is trying to evade the warranty of work that your shop has not done correctly. This is unacceptable and as a shop breaking your responsibility for your work. I will not let your shop make me feel incompetent to situation, I may not be professional to any auto shop, but I do know a bit about cars. You are trying to bamboozle your way out oh a huge responsibility. This is not a small job and as we know you like to keep this car for extreme periods of time. This maybe the reason the car may have not been done incorrectly. You are trying to blame someone else, for your poor work on the car. The gentleman has no problem in testifying to the work that he had done. You should consider a resolution.
Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because: ********** never asked for the shop that replaced the starter. I have no problem of giving the number to the shop. ***************** ************. He is more that willing to tell you what he has done. He never touched the engine, he know of the job and knows there is warranty on the engine. Your shop obviously did not do the bolts to spec. Your shop is not taking the responsibility of your work. This car is not driving do to the car not done correctly.
