Bought this car back in 2022 from **** ********. Paid and signed all paperwork. Told I would receive the title in the mail. Never got the title. Went to dmv to renew my sticker june 2024. Told the car wasn’t even mine, original owners traded into to **** ****** **** in Morton, IL. That dealership sold to **** ******** Auto in Springfield, IL. **** ******** never obtained the POA paperwork from the original sellers or the previous dealership and now i find out the car isn’t even legally mine, I have no title, bill of sale in my name because he forged the bill of sale, and the plates never got transferred because of the hold on the paperwork because **** ******** forged and did not respond to give me the necessary documents to legally sell me the vehicle and have it and the title in my name. I cannot get a new sticker and now I know i’ve been driving an illegal vehicle without my knowledge. I just want the necessary paperwork or the ********* ** ***** to wipe this off so i can renew my registration or get rid of the vehicle legally. I know other people have had this issue with this dealer.

I would like **** ******** or JSMOS autos to get the title to me or contact me to resolve this issue. I am not sure how to go about it as his business is closed permanently but if he is willing to send me the necessary documents i’m happy to cooperate with him.

On July 2nd, 2022 I purchased a vehicle from this used car lot. I paid $1500 down for the vehicle and signed all my paperwork. I was told to send a copy of full coverage insurance to the dealer when I got the document’s. Which I did. The dealer told me my paperwork would be sent I the mail but it never arrived. Also, while waiting for the paperwork to arrive the dealer calls and says he needs additional info from me and did not know the tag number of the vehicle. After this time I had been driving the vehicle for two weeks. The dealer also tells me that I didn’t interview with the finance company and that I needed to provide provide him the tag number of the car or he would call the police and tell them I stole the vehicle from his lot. I then told him I would talk to a lawyer and he insisted there was no need to get an attorney involved. I then sought legal consultation and they told me that the dealer has a “duty to perform” by law. I then shared the info with the dealer and they later stated that I could get my money back if they could pick the car up in the same condition I had bought it in. I say “ok, I replaced the rear shocks, will I be compensated?”. I’m told, “no, this has happened before! You don’t get compensated for ware and rare!” I then still agree that they can pick up the car. We agree on a Saturday. Once the day arrives, he tells me that “I can’t make it today, I have other obligations”. We argue over the phone and I tell him that ”it has to be today, I removed the insurance from the vehicle and can’t drive it”. He then says “I’ll come on Monday or Tuesday to get it”. After Wednesday, I called and I don’t get an answer! I call 3 more times and don’t get an answer! This was the second week of July! I have not been able to drive the car legally for a month and it’s parked at my house. I have had to ask several different people for rides to work because I work in Missouri and it’s 45 minutes away. I kept the job until I couldn’t afford to commute.

I am rejecting this response because:

I did everything that was needed to finance the vehicle. The salesman told me that all I needed was to cover taxes, title and license and that it would be about $1100. I then told him I would put $1500 down and he said that would work. After signing paperwork, the dealer put tags on the car and gave me two sets of keys to the vehicle before I left. Later, I talked to the finance company and they informed me that the car dealership reminded the deal and that I needed to contact the car dealer for further info. I then talked to JSMO’s and was informed that  I needed to interview with the finance company for the loan to be approved and that they did not know what the tag number of the car was. I then told them I would talk to a lawyer and get back with them. After I called JSmo’s back I informed them that the lawyer stated that the car dealer had a “duty to perform” and then they wanted to argue that they are not obligated to. After going back and forth with the dealership I agreed to return the car if i could have my money returned ($1500 cash). They first said no and then agreed later after they talked. They stated that they were coming to pick up the car on a Saturday. Once Saturday came, they stated that they could not make it to get the car and that they needed an extra driver to drive the car back to Springfield IL. I then told him I had called the insurance company and that the car insurance would be taken off today. He then stated that I was making the situation difficult by not agreeing to their demands. I then told them that they were being difficult by not coming to pick the car up. After I contacted the BBB, they then had a tow truck company called me stating that they picking up the car for non payment. I then said “who do I need to pay?” three times and they asked “are you drunk?”. I said “No, but you can have the car if I can have my down payment back!” The tow company then said they had no idea what I was referring to. I’m certain that JSMO’s is trying to take the vehicle without refunding me my money.
