As of today, April 1, 2023, this dispute is well known to the company. After waiting many months for the project to finally be finished, the company steadfastly refused to provide a handicap accessible shower which was the primary objective from the outset. The issue involves the sliding door for the master bath shower. Its inadequate clearance to easily access the shower requires the user to turn sideways in order to get in. Since the objective of the project was to provide enhanced "accessibility" (as evidenced by the inclusion a seating area in the shower) - this design simply fails. After the door was installed and it's inadequate design was clear, the only resolution the company offered was to charge another $3000 to provide what they originally promised. I'm not an expert in reading design plans (which were poorly prepared) and I relied on the company's "expert" to meet our needs. I understand she has left the company or was fired. However, they are still responsible for the actions and conduct of its employees. This seems to indicate they had prior knowledge of a bad actor working for them.It was not known to me that the access would be wholly inadequate until it was installed. I provided glowing praise for the work that was done up until that point. It was then apparent we had a significant issue. I'm deeply disappointed in the integrity of the company not to acknowledge its responsibilities. It also attempted to charge $350 for a dumpster which was never delivered to the job site. Apparently their practice is to unscrupulously attempt to charge several customers for use of the same dumpster.I acted with integrity paying in full approximately $20,000 for their work & met my responsibility as a customer (even though I have a legitimate claim) while the company refuses to meet their responsibility. Installing an acceptable door or refunding me the cost to get a reputable contractor to properly finish the project are reasonable solutions to this issue.

    Business Response

The original project proposal included a custom created shower door that would have met the customers needs.  Between the time of proposal and signed contract, a shower door change was made from a swinging door to a lower cost sliding door.  This new custom option was drawn, quoted and included in the signed contract with the customer.  Customer does not recall making this change, despite signing the contract.  Since the employee who created this contract is no longer with Tinley Park Kitchen and Bath,we have agreed to compensate the customer for a portion of the cost of the door. This solution was agreed with the customer via phone call on April 3, 2023.
