I went to dealership today, Weeks Chevrolet.  I explained what the guy had done and he said the work was not done correctly.  They will have to order a power steering line because of what the business I complained about did.  They don't know if the pump is burned up or not and the dollar amount to fix it is $300.00 as long as the pump is not burned up.  I brought up the thing about the thermostat issue and he didn't do anything with it yet because that would involve more investigation.  it. It is still acting up now.

I would like to take my car over to my brother who is the head mechanic at another dealership and let him fix it and have this guy to pay for it.

      Business Response

I have spoke with **** several times for the complaint on the thermostat. He sets up an anointment and does not call or show up. We did look at it a while back don't remember the date and everything was working as it should. When talking to him about it asking why he thinks the thermostat is bad I keep telling him that it could be something else but can not get him to bring it in. When he comes to the shop he walks here and have told him several times I can't do a diagnosis without it being here. For the issue of the power steering pump. **** came to our shop on 10/19/2023  with his van and asked if we could get the air out of the system, he just got it out of another shop and they didn't know how to. I said yes we can, it has to be vacuum bleed. While we was bleeding the system he told me about the experience he had at the other shop. He said they did not know how to and they called the parts store where **** purchased the pump and belt and they told him to jack it up and turn the wheel side to side and that should work. They did that for over an hour and they told him to just drive it, and it would work the air out eventually. I explained to **** that is not the Propper way and why would a mechanic call a parts store for advise. I don't know the shop owner I have met him one other time but don't know anything good or bad about him or his business. I said if that's true then he should be responsible for our diagnostic and labor. **** did not want to deal with him anymore I understand that. I charged him for 1 Hour diag and labor he was fine with that. He asked if we could do the repair, I said yes and gave him a quote he did not want us to provide the power steering pump he wanted the parts store to credit him. I said it's not their fault that falls on the previous mechanic. He was adamant on the part store to credit the power steering pump and said he was going to sue them. I tried to explain to him that they have nothing to do with it. Anyway they did a credit to him, I spoke with them and they would not send us a pump unless we had it out and ready for pickup. I told **** I am not a fan of those pumps they are not a very good quality but he did not want to purchase a pump from us that would cover parts and labor if it failed. I put him as a priority and got started on it immediately. Finding several things wrong from power steering lines that was spliced to wrong belt and several other thing's. I brought everything to ****'s attention and he already knew about it. He said he has a friend that's a mechanic and he did all of that. We replaced the pump noticed his rack and pinion was bad a gave him a quote for that. He said it was replaced a couple years ago at a shop about 30 miles away and it cost over $900.00 I quoted a lot less and included sway bar links in the repair also. Once the power steering pump was replaced it was a bad pump and had to have a credit again. I told **** again that I do not like this he needs to go with a higher quality part that they will not cover the labor. He again was adamant on using the pump. I said you can return this and get your money back and for a little bit more get a higher quality with warranty. But he did not want to, so we replaced it a second time. He called the shop that replaced his rack and pinion and the part has a lifetime warranty on it so we was able to get that as a credit for him but it did not cover labor. **** was fine with that and we replaced the rack and pinion along with replacing the power steering lines that had been spliced together. Replacement parts that was sent to us some where wrong from previous shop ordering the wrong parts. I don't know if they was ordered by **** or the shop but when I questioned him on it he said he went and bought them and the other shop just put them on. On 11/30/23 at 4:00 pm after this complaint was turned in **** and his girlfriend came to the shop. I greeted them and aske what  I could do for them. She said **** has some complaints. He has taken his van to another shop and they said we charged to much. I said did you explain to them what all we replaced and went through. She said yes a power steering pump. I said no it was a lot more than that along with fixing mistakes and some very questionable and dangerous things from a previous mechanic. She says OH I know he uses his meathead friend to do things and constantly tears up things. I asked **** what the issue was with us he said we charged him twice for one job. I explained to him that they are 2 separate jobs and parts. After a lot of explaining that we did not mess his pump up. That was done by another mechanic or several deferent people. He said but you don't realize how much I have spent on this. I said I understand that but you chose the different people and the parts even after I said not to. He said we should not charge him for the labor because of their mistakes. I tried to explain to him that we are not apart of the other businesses and he knew pricing before we started any of it. He wanted us to do it so he could get his van back up and running. She brought up his belt will squeal I said yes he has a oil leak that we have showed him and does not want to fix at this time. She brought up the thermostat I explained that we have tried to get it in but he make an anointment and never shows up and it could be another issue not just a thermostat. She agreed and told **** that we was not at fault it is his fault for having his friend a methhead as she called him for messing things up. He brought up a fuse box that we have not done anything with in several months claiming that we had broke it. I said **** how did we break it you said your friend broke it because he got mad and smashed it into the car. He said yeah and I had to buy another one from a salvage yard and this one isn't working right either. I said how in the world does that involve me? He could not give a answer on that. I asked him about the employee that I supposedly fired. He said ***** another employee of of ours told him that. I said ***** would not say that because the employee your talking about did not get fired he had to resign due to health issues. That employee has worked for us for quite a while and has had to take time off in the past for health issues coming up. **** said well he didn't want to do the job anyway. I said **** he probably didn't want to but that doesn't mean he quit or got fired. I asked what issues he has with us but he couldn't answer anything but we charged him for 1 hour diag. I asked him about the review he left and he denied doing it. I said **** it's right hear and read it to him he said yeah I shouldn't be charged. I said I'm sorry but I'm done, then his girlfriend went off yelling all kinds of crazy things that don't even have to do with any of this. At the same time another customer came in and I told him I'm sorry I have to escort these two off the property. **** and his girlfriend did walk away and I told him nicely not to come back while his girlfriend stood in the road yelling at us. We provide the best service possible to all customers. I will be flexible with payments and understanding when someone can't afford certain things. Sometimes you can get by with going with a lower quality or even salvage parts. But we do our absolute best to provide exceptional service. This is a long response and there is a lot more to this but hopefully this can clear the air. I hate to see that we couldn't make things right but this is a business and at this time I can't fix everything for free.Thank you to all of our customers whether first time, repeat, or someone traveling and will probably never see again.

I am rejecting this response because:

the vehicle in refence  the thermostat was changed by sulk about 6 months ago and it is not working right and has not been since it was replaced how do i know the gauge stays on the cold side and there is not much heat

the power steering line has to be replaced due to the way it was fixed .The mechanic at Weeks Chevrolet dealership looked at it and said the return line goes into the reservoir with a rubber boot and the way it was doctored up was it was suppose to break down i was told the line will have to be replaced after i paid for the job to be done right the first time plus on top of that the belt is squalling when it was not before . I just want this vehicle fixed and i should not have to pay for more repairs i have already paid for . i know he was mad because i did not get power steering pump. or Raco pinion my parts have a lifetime warranty so it did not make sense to pay for another one . When Lisa and myself was asked to leave the property it was done in a threatening manner Lisa thought he Brian was going to hit me.

      Sincerely,
