My wife and I hired a "professional", to remodel our bathroom including new custom ordered tile. We waited 10 weeks for custom-order tile only to have it installed very poorly and nobody willing to admit that it was a bad installation job or take responsibility. Very early on we voiced our concerns for the poor installation job done on our tile. We were assured it would be remedied once it was grouted. It was not. We were also assured that the tile seam in the shower corner would be matched up and we wouldnt notice that it was installed incorrectly. It does not match up and it is very obvious it was installed incorrectly. The installation company came out to look and agreed to fix a few issues, but both **** and the owner of the tile company commented that we shouldnt look closer. I already had and I knew the tile installation job was chock-full of mistakes. Even the guy that was sent to fix the few items (out of the very many) commented that he didnt know why they installed it like they did - confirming it was a bad installation all along. And his "fixes" were no better. Were not the only ones that have noticed it. Weve had plenty of comments like, Why is the tile like that?, Oh, did you do the tile yourself?, or Did you have it installed like that so it looks old? Nope, just got duped into paying for a poor installation job. And thats just the tile.Youll also notice in the photos that the caulk job around the edges is inconsistent and incomplete in some areas. Additionally, the toilet is incredibly crooked and has an uncapped bolt ************* put it as kindly as possible, all-in-all this has been nothing short of a nightmare. Since we failed in hiring a competent contractor the first time, well own that, but we feel it only fair that **** reorder all the tile, plus the customary 10% extra (maybe 15% extra since 10% wasnt enough last time) at no cost to us and have it delivered to our home for whichever new tile contractor we find to install.

      Business Response

Thank you for reaching out. While Im sorry that you are unhappy with the work done, I have already made it clear that all of the imperfections that you have pointed out are within tolerance of human error. My tile contractor did agree to fix some of the imperfections you pointed out months ago, and when we left the job, I was under the strong impression that it was to your satisfaction. This tile job was completed in September, so Im understandably confused that you are reaching out after it was finished you paid me in full and didn't mention anything at the time of final payment now asking me to pay for new tile.
While I see that you are frustrated, it is not my practice to retroactively go back to completed jobs for full reimbursement of product. Not only that, but as we agreed, the imperfections are well within allowance. Therefore, I cannot in good conscience reimburse you for this cost. I take pride in my work, and looking at these photographs, I am confident in the work done.
Please let me know if you have further questions.

I am rejecting this response because:

We were in communication with **** at Global Construction as recently as March 31st regarding the grout in our tile. I was not part of any final walkthrough or conversation, but the tile issue would absolutely came up had I been. Ad far as "acceptable tolerances" go, **** seems to be under the impression that I think this is a manufacturing issue, which I am not. This is an installation issue and has been since the beginning. As soon as I saw the issue I message **** on August 8th, 2024, about it and we were told that it "just needs to be grouted".Whikle I failed to see how further cementing in the terrible installation would fix it, I humored **** as he was the "professional" and I was just the client. Shockingly, grouting only made things worse and now we were stuck with this awful install job. This is a terrible installation plain and simple and does not fall within my "acceptable tolerance" for installation, which I expressed from the start. Most of the work ****** did was good, though very sloppy and rushed at the end as evidenced by the caulk job around the wall tiles, but the tile INSTALLATION is unacceptable. We're not looking for money, we just want the tile we had custom ordered to be reordered and delivered to our home so we can find someone capable of installing it to our satisfaction. Unfortunately for ****, his sub-contractor did this, so this falls on him.

      Sincerely,

      ***** *******
