I am a choice hotel Diamond member . I never get charged security deposit. They overcharged me on my room by $50 then charged another $50. When I tried to bring it to their attention, they screamed and threatened to call police. We stayed at hotel less than 8 hours due to abuse

    Business Response

    Date: 07/31/2024

    Better Business Bureau,

I am writing to provide a detailed account of the events concerning ************************************* stay at our property on June 26th, 2024. During check-in, ********************** expressed her dissatisfaction with the standard $50 incidental authorization charge that we collect from all guests. Despite her status as a Diamond member, she was informed that this policy applies uniformly to all guests.

************************** response was hostile, and she became verbally aggressive towards our front desk attendant. Our staff remained respectful and professional throughout the interaction. In an effort to accommodate **********************, management decided to void the $50 authorization charge.

Subsequently, ********************** claimed that she was charged an additional rate. Upon reviewing her reservation, we confirmed that the total amount charged to her card ending in 6223 was $105.88, which was the correct total for her booking. No additional charges were made.

Despite ************************** hostile behavior, we made every effort to clarify any misunderstandings. We provided her with printed copies of the billing details to ensure transparency and address her concerns.

Given the above circumstances and our adherence to standard policies, we request that her dispute amount of $205.88 not be considered.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    ***** Green

They did not charge me a $50 deposit.  They charged me $100. And I've talked to corporate headquarters and No diamond members do not get charged a deposit.  They threatened to hold onto my money for as long as possible and they did. They hold it for over 30 days , then I had to file dispute. I should have gotten refund due to their abusive behavior.  ************* gave me a free night to make up for it, but I'm tired of paying extremely high room prices to almost empty hotels then being treated like I'm in their way and get threatened to get police called on me when I very calmly pointed out they charged me $100 deposit,  not $50. ***** must have been picked on as a child to get so much satisfaction out of abusing people that just had a patent die.
