May 8, 2024 Hunter Bloomington Properties advertised a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment at *************, and my daughter visited the apartment on 4/23/2024. The apartment had been promoted across various media platforms.During her visit, my daughter expressed interest in the apartment to the property representative, stating that she would discuss further with her parents. Subsequently, I, her mother, reached out to Hunter Bloomington Properties - Railway Manor to connect with the individual who showed her the apartment, intending to proceed with the lease and provide my contact information. Unfortunately, despite my attempts, I did not receive a callback. Assuming the apartment was no longer available, we ceased our pursuit.Later, upon checking online, we discovered that the apartment was still listed as available. On 5/6/24, my daughter and I contacted Hunter Bloomington Properties once again to inquire about its availability. A representative confirmed its availability and guided my daughter through the application process. I also confirmed the steps and availability during my conversation with them, given the elapsed time. They assured me that the apartment was indeed available. After my daughter and her roommate completed the application process and paid the application fee, they received no further communication from the property management company. Following up on 5/8/24, they were informed that the apartment had been rented out, and their application fee of $70 would not be refunded. They said this is advertised. I asked to be refunded as the unit was rented even though we specifically asked if it was available, and they said it was still available. Despite the apartment still being listed as available online, it appears that Hunter Bloomington Properties engages in deceptive practices by charging application fees without genuine intent to rent out the unit(s).
