Contacted ****** ***** April 4th, during this initial meeting, I was told that the company worked with the funds that the insurance approved for storm damage to the ************** an agreement was signed with no contract price included. A selling point that day was that they automatically upgraded to a 50 year shingle[*** ***]. Once the insurance approvals came through, ****** was no longer replacing the fence because it was paid out as ACV vs. RCV; I was upset about this but felt locked in because of the signed agreement from April 4th. When I signed the contract [5/14/2025] for the approved insurance repairs (minus the fence) the final contract price was listed as $22,661.03, this document included upgrades I was told were necessary to obtain/keep the ************* warranty; on this day he had me sign over the first insurance check in the amount of $18,251.79. I asked for quotes on additional changes I wanted to make, when I accessed the online quotes, I noticed the approved contract price online was listed at $25,236.43, not $22,661.03; there was also additional variable costs listed in the online agreement not listed on the signed paper contract. When calculating worst case scenario, it could be an additional up to $2,204; on top of the already higher cost online vs. paper. At this point I felt that I was being taken advantage of and contact my insurance company, they recommended I obtain other quotes to ensure fair pricing. In speaking to the other contractors, I learned the *** *** roofing shingles only carry a 25 year warranty not a 50 year warranty. When I brought this up to ******, he stated when installed by specially trained contractor it extends the warranty and is backed up by his company; the extended warranty option is not listed on the *** website for these shingles. When the option of breaking the contract was brought up, he said the 15% cancellation fee would apply. I don't believe this should apply, due to misleading information and hidden costs.

      Business Response

      Date: 06/09/2025

After review of the complaint, our company is preparing documentation to refund the  customer the insurnace acv minus the fee for the tarp that our company installed ($713.02 as listed in the insurnace scope). We always strive to provide excellent customer service , and our technician provided true and reliable information regarding the 50 year warranty, along with agreeing to accepting insurnace proceeds on all work encompassed in the scope of work provided by the insurance carrier. The additional, agreed upon charges were for upgrades outside of the insurance scope of covered services.

We will agree to release this customer from their signed contract and will be issuing a refund within 5 business days. Again, our goal is to always provide excellent customer service, and we believe that we acted in good faith throughout the process.
