      Opened a Money Market account online. Very simple, straightforward process and great rates! Highly recommend.

      After initiating an online CD account and submitting sensitive details, including my SSN, driver's license photo, and bank login credentials, I did not receive any confirmation from the bank. The following day, I contacted them and was told to expect an email after their review process. Not being able to shake the feeling of suspicion, I intended to cancel the account opening by Monday. However, four days post-application, I received a message from the bank stating, "Unfortunately, we are unable to open your account at this time," with no additional details. As someone who has experienced identity theft twice and has had satisfactory dealings with other banks, I am extremely concerned about the security of my personal information and their handling of such sensitive issues. I have requested the deletion of my personal data by Monday and have sought confirmation of its secure removal by responding to their message, yet I have received no reply. The bank's website does not offer an option to request the deletion of personal data. In hindsight, I regret not heeding the numerous online complaints about this bank before trying to open an account with them. In my view, Merchants Bank of Indiana is not trustworthy with personal information.

      Worst experience opening a CD account. Poor customer service and zero transparency.I tried to open a CD account online and submitted tons of personal information they required. Few days later I received an email my application was rejected based on information from a credit reporting agency I have never heard of before, **** Systems. I called the bank and they refused to tell me why I was rejected. I never had credit issues and my score is great. It doesn't look like a reputable bank to me or at least they don't value potential customers.
