    On 1/18/25, I scheduled an appointment with the Petland store in Carmel Indiana to see a mini goldendoodle puppy they had for sale. I arrived at my appointment around 2:40 pm. The associate, ******, grabbed the puppy out of the cage and allowed my son and I to go into the open room with the puppy. I kept a safe distance between my son and the puppy. ****** came back to the area with an iPad to go over a presentation and pricing of the puppy. During the presentation, my son stood up from the bench and the puppy ran over to him. My son began screaming. I immediately crouched down to separate my son and the puppy. I held my son while he was still screaming, attempting to calm him down and console him. I looked at my son's face and noticed the bleeding of his eye and eyelid. I informed the associate that the puppy bit my son and asked her to pick the puppy up. I asked for a bathroom, and I was unable to access the bathroom as another customer occupied it. All of the store associates were watching as my son was still screaming, and only one associate came over with an alcohol wipe. I informed her that my son was bitten in the eye. I was not offered a first aid kit at all. I quickly picked my son up and left the store to take him to ******************************. I called Petland and spoke with ****** while in the hospital with my son. My mother and I explained to her that we were at the hospital and would like to send the medical bills to Petland. ****** responded very rudely and with no empathy explaining that she is a manager at the store and that they are not liable for what happened because I agreed to go into the room with the dog. ****** refused to provide me with the information for the general manager after requesting the name, email, and phone number multiple times. She then responded saying he would tell me the same thing she told me. At this time, no one from the business has reached out to me for a follow-up.

    It has been a week since the incident occurred. Management from Petland still has not reached out. My son has a follow up appointment at the **************************** with an ophthalmologist. I have been unable to provide the doctor with verification of the puppy having up to date vacinations. Petland has refused further communication with me to work on a resolution.
