On or around the first of the year, my furnace stopped working at ************************************************************. The tech arrived and got it running again. It happened again two weeks later. The tech returned, replaced an inducer and it started working again. Two weeks later, it went out again on a Friday. A different tech arrived, said I needed a different part and left. the furnace WAS NOT working. I was without heat through the weekend and again on Monday. No phone calls or contact from Van's. I called around 4 pm to find out what the problem was. They still did not have the part. I called a different HVAC company and the problem was fixed immediately without having to replace any parts. Water had built up in one of the hoses. Drained the water, and there were no further issues with my furnace.I told Van's I would pay for the first visit and the part that was replaced that I didn't need. I asked to see all three invoices from the three separate visits. I only received one invoice for $325. I will pay for the first visit, but I will not pay for sitting in the cold four days. I have repeatedly asked for the invoices and they refuse to provide them.

      Business Response

      Date: 07/05/2023

On December 23rd, 2022, Van Contracting received an emergency no heat call from ************************   Van Contracting dispatched a technician to address the issue on the same day.

The technician found the system tripped on the flame roll out switch.  The technician reset, started and monitored the furnace.  The furnace started properly and did not show any further problem during the rest of the technicians visit.  The weather on December 23rd was very cold and extremely windy.  The diagnosis was made that a draft of wind down the flue pipe cause the flame roll out switch to trip

An invoice in the amount of $325 was created and sent to *********************** on January 6th, 2023.  The invoice was for the service performed on December 23rd, 2022.

On January 9th, 2023, Van Contracting received another call from *********************** reporting the furnace was not functioning properly.  A technician was dispatched and found a failed pressure switch to be the issue.  The technician did not have the part on the van and the part needed to be ordered.  Upon receiving the part, an appointment to install the pressure switch would be scheduled.  Before the part arrived and the appointment was scheduled, *********************** called another contractor to address the issue.  ***** then informed Van Contracting that our services were no longer needed.  Van Contracting did not charge *********************** for the service work provided on January 9th, 2023.

*********************** has since refused to pay for the service provided on December 23rd, 2022.  After phone and email communication, Van Contracting and *********************** came to the agreement that ***** would pay a reduced amount for the service provided on December 23rd and Van Contracting will no longer be assisting ***** with any HVAC or Plumbing emergencies in the future.
