I purchased a used car from this dealership on November 17, 2022. When I took possession of the car the gas tank was empty. I immediately had to fill up only to find that when I pumped gas I could not press the pump handle too hard or it would shut off, like the tank was full. I didn't think much of it but this continued until the middle of January when I called my local dealership (different from Heartland) to see if this issue had been seen before. My local dealership determined that the sensor in the gas tank was broken. However, it is impossible to replace just the sensor, I have to replace the entire tank - $1600. There is no way Heartland was not aware of this issue and failed to disclose it to me when I purchased the car.

We did sell the vehicle to the customer in November, but it was sold as-is no warranty but we give a lifetime powertrain warranty with most sales at no cost to the customer.  She was given an opportunity to purchase a warranty at a very reasonable price to cover the rest of the vehicle and she refused that option.  We were never aware of any issue with this problem until I got a nasty email from her on January 20th.  She swore at me and insulted my character, I didn't respond to that email.  I have no responsibility in this repair, it was a used vehicle and 2 months after the fact.  Federal law keeps me from paying for this repair because of implied warranty laws.  There will  be no assistance in this repair for this customer.

    Sincerely,
