    On January 4, 2023 I signed a contract with "*********************" (not his real name) - for a photo booth on Saturday, April 29, 2023 for my best friend's surprise birthday party. Services included: photo booth, monogram and up-lighting. I paid the deposit of $350 on that same day. I sent via Zelle.His contract clearly states that if the person who signs contract cancels any part of the contract there is a $250 penalty.We texted the week before the event to confirm date and how the remainder would be paid, he wanted a cash app for the remaining amount. Thankfully, we did not pay in full. April 29, 2023 - he no showed on the event. I called, texted the day before and day of no response. The next morning, he texted saying he was in the hospital from being in an accident, which I have found out was a lie. I spoke with a former boss that recently had to let him go. That boss told me I am not the only contract that he has recently no showed on.On April 30th he said that he would return my deposit by the end of the week. Still nothing. I have left voicemails, several texts and ******** messages to receive my money and I getting no response.On May 8th, I texted asking about my refund, and he came up with another story that he was with his daughter in the hospital, asked for my full name, I sent my full name and address and he said he would get it to me. Tried calling again, got his voicemail. Texted him again on May 14th, no response. I sent a ******** message on May 17th - no response. Sent an email on 5/30 with a copy of the signed contract and a screenshot of the $350 via Zelle.I believe at this point he not only owes me the $350 deposit, but the $250 "cancellation fee" total of $600.
