I had purchased a 4630 John Deere sprayer from this company to be delivered to my address. I made the down payment of $10,000. When they delivered the sprayer, it wouldn't start and they couldn't get it off the truck. It also had oil leaks. I talked to them on the phone and said I didn't want it with those problems. I also told them I would pay the trucking for hauling it back and forth. I called them today and asked for my money back and they hung up the phone on me. He said he put new batteries in it when they got back and it started right off.

We sold a 4630 John Deere sprayer to this customer.  He asked to put a down payment on this and then wait 2 months before paying the balance.  We held on to the sprayer for the 2 months like he asked, which caused us to miss  selling it to other customers for a greater profit during that time.  *** ****** had 2 months to come and inspect the sprayer for himself but chose not to do so. We delivered the sprayer and the battery lost charge during travel.  We offered to replace the battery upon delivery, but the customer refused this option.  We tried to remedy the situation while the sprayer was in his possession, but an agreement could not be reached.  *** ****** decided he did not want to purchase this sprayer and used the battery as his reason.  We transported the sprayer back to our business, replaced the battery and it works just as we told him.  Even though our invoice states that all equipment is "Sold As Is", we offered to fix the problem.  Unfortunately, this seems to be a case of "buyer's remorse".  I have attached the invoice for reference.

Purchased over the internet in the website ******************* *1) year 2013 Doosan p425/hp 375 air compressor form dean ford equipment for $19,500 and it was ship with no ROOF? There was nothing in the advertisement or video in machinery trader indicating no roof ! Frankly it very miss leading and I wont have purchase the machine if they did show it with no roof! We paid to have the machine shipped to our client in Youngstown Ohio! Our Client Liberty Maintenance in Youngstown sent us a text showing the air compressor with no Roof! We contact Dean Ford Farm Equipment and They told us to ship the unit back they would pay us back but they would not reimburse us for the freight too and from our customer $2,000 That we should have came seen it first? need less to say we had to pay $1,000 to replace the roof for our customer! We never run across anything like this in our 22 years in the equipment business ! We go by the photos and the videos the equipment dealer sends us! If they don't show clearly and dealer don't not tell US the machine has no roof that is deceptive ! Dean ford equipment should not be able to advertise equipment on the internet if the act in this manner! We expect to be fully reimbursed $1,000 for having to replace the roof on the machine! Thank you best regard ***** ***************** ************

    Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.

As background: The customer identified themselves as an experienced reseller.  Customer called about our online advertisement of a 10 year old used compressor, with 40 photos and videos of the unit.

The compressor did not come with a piece of sheet metal that lies on top of the unit.  The compressor was photographed and advertised without this piece, including a picture specifically highlighting its absence.  For the sake of transparency, we've left up the advertisement for verification; see picture 21 etc which highlights the absence of this piece.  (See full advert on our website).

The customer called us about the piece of sheet metal in question after they took delivery.  We told them that the compressor did not come in with that piece of sheet metal, but they were welcome to return the equipment for a refund if they were not satisfied with the equipment.  They requested us to pay for additional fees such as shipping expense.  Because the equipment was fully and accurately depicted, and nothing was discussed separately, we were happy to take back the machine if it helped them, but not to pay the transportation bills.

The customer received a discounted price on the equipment because they are a professional trader; part of what comes with that distinction is the ability to evaluate equipment and absorb small issues like this if they arise.  The discount provided to the customer was substantially more than the cost of the part being discussed.

It's never in our interest to have unhappy customers, and the vast majority of people that work with us are happy and satisfied.  We feel bad that this customer is upset, but we can't tolerate abusive language towards our employees, and we do not think there is merit in their complaint.  We want to reach a good outcome when someone is dissatisfied; but in this case, we do not believe that we have treated the customer unfairly.
Thank you for seeking both sides of the issue
