      Business Response

      Date: 10/14/2024

      Dear BBB Representative,
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We take all member concerns seriously and would like to clarify the situation regarding Ms. *********** Name]'s membership.
Upon reviewing Ms ********** ********* account, we understand that she had to pause her membership due to a surgery, and we have accommodated her request by placing her membership on a freeze. We have also communicated to Ms. ********** ******* that we are more than willing to extend this freeze until she is able to resume physical activity, as advised by her doctor.
However, we have not yet received any documentation from her healthcare provider indicating that she is unable to return to the gym for an extended or indefinite period. As stated in the membership agreement, any medical freezes must be accompanied by a note from a physician outlining the restrictions or timeline for recovery. Once we receive this letter, we can reassess the medical freeze and take appropriate action based on her condition.
In the meantime, Ms. ********** ******* is still welcome to continue freezing her account as a temporary solution, allowing her to resume her membership when she is ready, without any additional charges. We kindly request that she consult her doctor and provide us with the necessary documentation if further accommodations are needed.
We value Ms. ********** ******* as a member and remain committed to assisting her through this process in accordance with the terms of her membership.
Thank you again for your attention to this matter, and please feel free to reach out if there are any further questions or clarifications needed.

I am rejecting this response because:

I want out of my gym membership, I cannot afford to pay for it due to lost of job because I had to recover from surgery. Freezing will only let me back in debt after which is what I was told. That is not fair I dont plan on using the gym and wont use the gym anymore everyone Ive ever met has this issue with anytime fitness. They cannot cancel after they are in, which I find outrageous.

Thank you for your follow-up message. We understand that this situation is difficult, especially considering the challenges you're facing after surgery and the loss of your job. However, it's important to clarify that your specific issue relates to a medical situation, which is not a standard case for all of our members.
As I mentioned previously, we have been flexible with your account by freezing your membership while you recover. We can potentially explore a medical cancellation, but this requires documentation from your doctor. Specifically, we need a note stating that you are unable to work out for an extended period of time. Once we receive that, we can assess the best course of action to assist you further.
We strive to accommodate members facing medical concerns within the guidelines of the contract, and we hope you understand that we are doing our best to support you in this situation. Please reach out to your doctor to provide the necessary documentation so we can move forward.
Thank you again, and we look forward to resolving this matter in a way that best meets your needs.

I am rejecting this response because: so I have to prove I can no longer use the gym in order to cancel my membership? Once provided it will be cancelled?

      Business Response

      Date: 10/16/2024

Thank you for your reply. I want to clarify that I am simply presenting the options available under our membership terms. We cannot guarantee an immediate cancellation without following the proper steps, which includes receiving a note from your doctor stating that you are unable to engage in any forms of physical activity.
To proceed, you will need to obtain a note from your doctor specifying these restrictions. Once you have that documentation, please provide it directly to the club manager at your location. From there, we will verify the note through your physician and determine the appropriate next steps.
We want to ensure we are handling your situation fairly and in accordance with the terms of the contract, so please contact your doctor to obtain the necessary documentation.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to assisting you further.

I am rejecting this response because:
Here, is a note *********************** Some How I Feel Like This Is not Gonna Be enough For You Guys cancel My Membership Even Know Im having Problems With My Body. I Have been having Problems For The Last Year.  and I have no idea when Ill be able to or feel better. You guys suggest to freeze my account. How am I going to pay for that if I dont have a job at the moment and wont have a job? Do I have to die in order for you guys to understand ?

      Business Response

      Date: 10/16/2024

Thank you for providing your doctors note. After reviewing it, I see that the note recommends you avoid lifting more than 20 lbs for the next three months. This restriction does not prevent you from using the gym for other activities that can help you maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. As such, this note does not meet the criteria for a medical cancellation of your membership.
Additionally, after conducting an audit of phone calls, we have discovered that when you contacted the club on October 1st at 11:46am, you spoke with ****** ****** and mentioned wanting to cancel your membership due to moving. At no point during this conversation did you mention any medical concerns. While we never want to assume, it appears that you may be attempting to cancel your membership by providing inconsistent information, which we find concerning.
We value our time and that of our members, and we do not appreciate being misled. At this time, your request for cancellation has been declined. However, if you would like to transfer your membership to another individual, we are willing to waive the transfer fee so that someone else can take over the remainder of your agreement.
We have attached the recording of your phone call for your reference and for the BBB.
      Thank you for your understanding.

I am rejecting this response because: the moving part isnt false you accusing me of lying is astonishing, I didnt have to provide you any information about what Im going through medically. That is personal you guys are just trying to find a way to rob people I havent gone to your gym in MONTHS I should be able to cancel its within my right. If Im going through something financially and medical it shouldnt be anyones business but mine. I gave a doctors note as asked and it still wasnt enough? And as for the moving part I Im moving to ****** do I need to also give you the reason why ? And ask for permission from you guys? I shouldve never signed up with anytime fitness you guys have made it impossible to get any type of experience. Ill make sure everyone knows my experience with anytime is horrible. All you guys care about is making money.
