I took my car for an alignment. They did an inspection and drove it, and said it doesn't need an alignment, rides nice. Everything checked out great! They was amazed how clean the car and well kept and maintained it was for the year of the car. Except, there was a small leak on the over head gasket. ****, I'd go ahead and fix. While they was changing that, I asked for the oil pan and timing gaskets to be changed as well (which wasnt needed) They put back together, I drove home. ($2300) Something didnt seem right. I decided to check all the the fluids and double check fluids. Well, they forgot to put my engine casing back on the motor. So I called them and told them I checked the oils and it was low. They put on the houst and seen there was still an oil leak from the bottom, they tore it all apart again, put back together now it doesnt start. Now they saying my motor is no good, and its not their fault. Which if the motor was bad, they would've seen that the 1st time it was torn apart. The 1st time it was torn apart there wasnt no metal shaving in the oil pan, per *******. They when they took the new oil pan off, they said there was... Yet I drove it there, the motor strong and was in good working condition. It wasn't knocking or burning oil, nor was it hard to start. They screwed sowething up in my motor and was trying to sell me a used motor. Not willing to refund their work, only apply towards another used motor!! Which I would have to pay an additional $2800 totally $4400! That is unacceptable when there was nothing wrong with my motor!! I want refunded on all the labor of them messing my car up. I only think that is fair. The mechanics kept making up different things and excuses of the all of a sudden bad motor and not being their fault. Thats totally unacceptable! I have plenty of witnesses, i actually went to an local oil and lube place before going there and they can verify my car was in good working condition and by SAS own inspection verifies it was in good working condition! AND THE MECHANICS DIDN'T DISPUTE THAT THE *** WAS IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. THEY ALL AGREED ON THAT.Business Response

Dear BBB and ***************,
We appreciate you as a customer. We do show and tell when a problem is found. The car you recently just bought was a beautiful car. When the tech noticed the leak from the timing cover that was leaking coolant and oil and had tons of build up on the timing cover that needed to be cleaned and replaced. We did replace the timing cover gasket and a water pump that was leaking. When the car was done it ran very nicely and you drove away. You did come back due to the car not shifting correctly. The techs were unable to duplicate this issue. When we had it on the rack, we found it was still leaking oil. This was brought to your attention at that time. We checked to ensure gaskets were not leaking. During this process we noticed the coolant was mixing in the oil. The tech brought this to the managers attention. Inspected further, metal shavings were found in the oil pan. The tech was able to grab the rod shaft cap and move with excessive amount of movement at the crank shaft bearing. This was found on cylinder # 1 & 3. This will cause a lack of power, making it feel like a transmission issue. The customer was called by the owner, ***** and asked her to come down and take a look at what we found. You insisted on not putting any more money into it. ***** said it was fine but she needed to come down and see what they were seeing. You came down and looked at this and seen the issues at hand with the rod bearings. ***** asked you "didn't you hear this knocking" and you replied "you heard a ticking". You requested we put it back together and you were going to sell it. We did as requested. We did offer to help with labor on replacing the engine out of good will, not because we were at fault. We are here to help, not hinder. When the car was put back together their were issues with it even starting or running correctly due to the rod bearing issues and cylinder # 1 will not exceed 60 psi which goes to a possible engine block that is cracked which is very common on these 3.8L especially with ******* miles. ****** check with ** for any possible recalls, you can also ****** ** 3.8L cracked engine blocks which you are a victim of. This would be **'s fault not SAS. We want you as a customer, not hurt your car so you never come back. Once the timing cover gaskets were replaced and sealed properly, the coolant will find the next weakest spot if there is an issue, which we can not for see. In this case unfortunately, your car had this issue. Even after further in depth inspection the owner found someone had put a BARS stop leak into the top of the coolant reservoir on the inside. This shows us that there was a previous coolant leak issue someone tried to fix and hide for selling, which also explains the excessive build up of debris from the timing cover leak. We appreciate you but I'm sorry we are not responsible for your engine damage that was previously there but was hid well with multiples leaks. We did do all these inspections for free and replaced a harmonic balancer for free due to not coming apart when we opened the engine for inspection, which is approx. 7 hrs of labor time. Let's review your invoice, between labor you spent on valve cover gasket leaking, timing cover gasket that was leaking, and the oil pan gasket that was leaking came to $1,417.50. We have to be paid for our time or we will not be in business, we are a small company. We understand you have issues with your car you just bought and we do feel for you but again, we SAS is not at fault and we opened up the engine to show you the gaskets were in good shape and were not damaged. We would like to offer you out of good will a store credit in the amount of $708.75 which will be applied to your account.
Sincerely,
Your SAS team

Better Business Bureau:
As Long As the credit will go towards the ******* creditor, I will accept. I don't agree with alot that was said. I was never informed of any COOLAND/OIL MIXTURE. I am rejecting this response because:I need to reopen my claim, the offer, apparently was an in store credit, that is unacceptable to me. I want the funds applied to the finance company. They ruined my car, i do not want to take my new car to them to mess up. I am sure the owner is a great mechanic, but his helpers, need more schooling. against SAS Auto & Tire

I PREVIOUSLY FILE A CLAIM, A FEW MONTHS AGO, AND REFUSED THE OFFER. BUICK LESEBRE I RECENTLY, RE-READ THEIR COMMENTS, STATING A CRACKED BLOCK. IT WASNT UNTIL AFTER THEY HAD THE VEHICLE, THAT THE ***** HAD A CRACKED BLOCK AND STARTED THE TICKING NOISE. I ALSO, RECENTLY FOUND OUT ON 4/8/23 FROM AN INFORMANT, THAT ONE OF THE MECHANICS, ACKNOWLEDGE AND STATED THAT AFTER THE REPAIR, THEY STARTED MY ***, AND AFTER HAVING IT RUNNING, HEARD A LOUD NOISE! AND THEY WAS YELLLING SHUT THE *** OFF! THE LOUD NOISE THAT ABRUPTED WAS THE ***** BLOWING, BECAUSE THEY FORGOT TO PUT OIL MY *** AFTER THE REPAIR!!!! THEY ARE ALL LYING TO THE ****** I CAN ASSUME IN FEAR OF LOSING THEIR JOB. AND ALSO, THIS MECHANIC STATED THAT MY *** ISN'T THE ONLY *** THEY HAVE FORGOTTEN TO PUT OIL BACK IN. ******* KNOWS WHAT HE DID, I COULD ALWAYS SEE IT IN HIS FACE, AS THE OTHER MECHANIC WAS TRYING TO COVER FOR HIM AND STICK UP FOR HIM. RESPECTFULLY, I WOULD APPREICIATE ***** TO STAND UP AND ADMIT THEIR WRONG DOINGS, AND REFUND ALL THE WORK FOR BLOWING MY *****. I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY THIS DUE TO MY NEW FINDINGS. ALL MY "ASSUMPTION" HAVE BEEN VALIDATED, WHICH IS WHY I AM BACK AT FIGHTING FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. THANK YOU.
DUE TO THE NEW EVIDENCE, I AM SEEKING FULL REFUND. I AM TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS BEFORE TAKING FURTHER ACTION.
