      I was denied a checking account due to “ 1 unpaid closure at” a previous bank. The teller who contacted me, ******** ******, attached the form used to obtain a report from ChexSystems. I requested the same report which clearly shows that “any amounts owed have been paid” and shows my account was paid in full.

      A previous unpaid closure does not mean that it is still unpaid.  The decision to deny the account due to a previous closure with a reported charge-off was reviewed as paid in full at a later date.  We make the final decision based on several factors but the previous unpaid closure is always weighed in that decision. The decision to deny the account was communicated to the potential member in a timely fashion and by one of the choices for communication.

      Better Business Bureau:



      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Mostly because I don’t want to spend more effort on this and no longer want to do business with a company that doesn’t consider the overall profile. The ONLY reason for denial stated was the previous unpaid item and I did subsequently pay it in full.
