I purchased a 2016 Chevy Cruze from Byrider in Evansville. I just turned 18 and was trying to purchase a vehicle on my own without a cosigner. I had a baby on the way and was looking for something that was a family car. The car that I purchased was over $16,000 with tax, title, and license along with an 18% interest rate. In Janurary of 2025, I took the car to their shop for gunk on the oil cap and loss of compression. They charged me $50.00 at the time for the warranty and did not find anything wrong with it. Two days after, I took the car to the shop again and they did a number of repairs and charged $250 out of pocket for the cost. I later reached out to my Dad in regards to the car to see about refinancing. He reached out to his banks and it turns out that the car that they placed me in, only books for $6200.00. The banks are unable to refinance it with myself still owing $14,900. I gave Byrider permission to speak with my Dad as the car payment is outrageous along with the 18% interest and being 'upside down' on it. He reached out to the finance department and their response was that he knew what he was signing and that it is what it is. He also reached back out to them in regards to if there were any warranties or insurance on the car to see about dropping, and to see about refinancing. It turns out that there were no warranties or Gap insurance. I purchased the car for over $16,000 and am disappointed with price compared to the booking value of the car. I am hoping to find a resolution to the problem. Currently, I am stuck paying an outrageous payment for a car that only books for $6200.00.Business Response

In the case of Mr. ***** *****, complaint number ********, we have investigated the matter with the full cooperation of the franchise-owned Byrider. Mr. ***** filed a complaint regarding the price, value and interest rate he is paying.
Mr. ***** purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Limited on August 13, 2024 from the franchise-owned Byrider location on ***** ****** in Evansville, Indiana. He also purchased the optional 24 month/24,000 mile vehicle service contract, whichever comes first. It includes a $50 deductible.
Byrider has written policies and procedures that govern our sales and underwriting processes. The terms of the retail contract, including the payment amount, annual percentage rate and total sales price were disclosed prior to and during closing, both in writing and verbally. Mr. ***** signed a Retail Installment Contract, which secures his purchase.
Mr. *****'s financing agreement included a $500 down payment and a $1,200 deferred down payment, resulting in a financed amount of $15,546. The total cost also included a $99 documentation fee, a $15 title fee, and 7% Indiana sales tax. Mr. ***** was presented with risk-based pricing and all necessary legal documents at the time of the sale.
Mr. ***** has had use of the vehicle for over 13,000 miles since the time of purchase and has recently had his vehicle serviced with us for a purge valve. Purge valves are known to fail unexpectedly.
Upon receipt of this complaint, Byrider has attempted to contact Mr. ***** via the phone numbers provided, but was unsuccessful. We would like to schedule an in-person meeting with Mr. ***** and his father to further explain the advantages of the Byrider program.
Mr. ***** is currently up-to-date on his payments, and we are reporting to the three major credit bureaus. Our goal is to help Mr. ***** obtain approvals from other lenders in the near future.
Byrider strives to achieve the satisfaction of every customer. We value Mr. ***** as a customer. We look forward to our continued relationship.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because: spoke with the GM he said possibly getting money off and possibly getting money back since they charged me almost 300 dollars for the same issue the second time I brought it in and he said he would call me back and never did I want a way out of this loan and I don’t ever want to do business with byrider again in my life time and would never ever recommend byrider to my worst enemy
Sincerely,
***** *****Business Response

Byrider stands behind the vehicle service contract and makes good faith efforts at all times to help customers with their repairs. Byrider covered a $90 tow bill as a gesture of goodwill, but has not promised Mr. ***** any discounted repair or refunds.
While we understand Mr. *****’s frustration, he did sign a retail installment contract securing his purchase. Therefore we cannot adhere to his request to release him from his financial obligations.

Regarding ***** ****** complaint number ******** we conducted a thorough investigation with the full cooperation of the franchise owned Byrider/CNAC. Ms. ***** is upset with the repossession of her vehicle.
Ms. ***** purchased a 2015 Ford Taurus on October 17, 2024 from the franchise-owned Byrider location on First Avenue in Evansville, IN.
Byrider has written policies and procedures that govern our sales, underwriting, and collections processes. The terms of the retail contract, including the payment schedule and our on-time payment policy were disclosed prior to and during closing, both in writing and verbally.
Ms. ***** did not make her first two scheduled contractual payments as scheduled. She was asked to submit documentation to support a change in her pay dates and did not comply. Upon default of her contractual payment, the vehicle was repossessed. Ms ***** was given the opportunity to reinstate the agreement. She agreed her payment schedule was accurate and committed to payment according to the terms of the agreement. However, Ms. ***** defaulted on the January 3 contractual payment. The vehicle was repossessed upon default. Byrider agreed to release Ms. ***** from her contractual obligations.
While we sympathize with Ms. *****’s predicament, she did default on her retail contract. The account will be removed from the credit bureaus.Customer Answer

In the case of **** **********, Complaint Number: ********, we have investigated this matter with the full cooperation of the franchise-owned CNAC. Ms. ********** is aggrieved at the handling of the repossession of the vehicle.
********** purchased a 2012 Dodge Journey on August 16, 2022 from the franchise-owned Byrider location on First Avenue in Evansville, Indiana. The vehicle was covered by a 24-month, 24,000 mile service contract, whichever occurs first.
Ms. ********** dropped her vehicle off at the Byrider service center due to engine failure. Upon diagnosis it was determined that the engine had overheated and Ms. ********** continued to drive the vehicle with the engine overheating voiding her service contact. She opted to leave the vehicle at that time and proceed with a voluntary repossession.
CNAC has written policies and procedures that govern the repossession process to ensure that every repossession adheres to federal and state regulations. Part of this process includes the processing of title work at the local county clerk's office. We reached out to Ms. ********** to go over this and were unable to reach her. We have followed up with the county clerk again and verified that the title has been processed and is no longer in Ms. ********** name.
At CNAC we strive for the highest level of satisfaction for every customer and we wish them the best in all of their future endeavorsInitial Complaint

i feel like they don't care about the people they sell vehicles to, my 72 year old mother in law is out 250 of the 1000 i have paid and they are basically stealing money from people for a down payment then when something goes wrong or they reposess the vehicle before an actual vehicle payment is made they pocket the money and we deserve to have our money paid. we lost our home because of them.

In the case of ******** *******, Complaint Number: XXXXXXXX, we have investigated this matter with the full cooperation of the franchise-owned Byrider. Mr. ******* is dissatisfied with some mechanical issues he has experienced with his vehicle.
Mr. ******* purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Limited on November 2, 2020 from the franchise-owned Byrider on First Avenue in Evansville, Indiana. The vehicle was covered by a 24-month, 24,000 mile service agreement
The franchise-owned Byrider has honored the terms of the service agreement and have acted in good faith to address Mr. *******'s concerns. All eligible repairs were covered under the service agreement while it was active, and in a gesture of goodwill, the cost of repairs not eligible for coverage were also covered totaling a little over $1,000. Records show that Mr. ****** has put over 34,000 miles on the vehicle since the time purchase, as documented on June 28, 2022 during a service visit. This mileage puts him over the service contract mileage making repairs ineligible for coverage.
Prior to this complaint being filed, the franchise-owned Byrider offered Mr. ******* the opportunity to be released from any further contractual obligations with CNAC in effort to reach a resolution. He declined that offer. Upon receipt of this complaint, that offer was presented again and declined again.
While the franchise-owned Byrider strives for the highest level of customer satisfaction, they cannot adhere to Mr. *******'s request to cover the cost of the ineligible repairs.
Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
For starter whether it was serviced under warranty or not, wouldn't byrider service be responsible for the damaged caused from the failed repair?? As stated in document provided by kenny kent...In good faith I trusted them with my engine. Gave them multiple chances to correct thier mistake and as stated now need an engine in our vehichle their company serviced...As for declining the same offer twice. I never declined it twice. It was only offered one time. And that was right after I contaced the BBB.. which I have proof so rudely stated no repercussions... repercussion for who???? I make my payments on time.for the past 5 years and this is my second vehicle that's now ruined.. would you wanna pay a company 30 grand and have nothing to show but engines that failed on both vehicles they serviced everytime ??? Until they couldn't solve a problem their technicians created... Thankfully was in a position to pay Kenny Kent. To diagnose the mess that was created from Byrider technicians....
Business Response
The franchise-owned Byrider stands by the details provided in their original response. If Mr. ******* would like to discuss the details of the mutual release, he is encouraged to contact the franchise-owned Byrider.
Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Well I have Given the Byrider franchise the opportunity to talk with me... Even provided facts and unbeatable arguments in messages, Through the company's phone, before I ever started taking the steps I have. ******* ***** even told me I was barking up the wrong tree... So safe to say I have tried with Byrider. And Im done trying..I have already provided to the BBB documentation of how the problem was caused and that Byrider caused it... And apparently Byrider has nothing to say besides, I'm unhappy and offers a mutual release... Unless that mutual release comes with all the money I have paid on and put into the cruze, on top of all the service bills, along with no affect to my credit score.. We have nothing to talk about. I just ask the BBB Please Consider discrediting this company. I can Guarantee Im not the only dissatisfied customer.. I tried solving this before it ever went this far.. Byrider franchise can go through thier company phone to find all that out as well..
