This is my experience in the blackjack "school":
From the first day, a former student, G, started coming into the class during all of her 20-minute breaks. G is friendly young woman. When she wasn't around, the teacher, Jamie would often talk about her and ask questions about her to her friend, who was a student in the class. When G came in during all of her breaks, J would give her his full attention. He talked negatively about other employees and he laughed when G told him about the mistakes she had made while dealing. He implied that he had helped her get the schedule she wanted. It was obvious that Jamie had an inappropriate interest in G. When his wife entered, with great effort due to her weight, she was often ignored. It was sad.
J was on his phone during the majority of the class, appearing to take little interest in teaching.
During the second week, J talked positively about ***** during a break (for the second time), and a student respectfully suggested to them that we not talk about politics during class. J asked him why. I told him that our political views drastically differ from everyone else's. After this, J had a very negative attitude toward me, speaking in an angry tone if I made a mistake. He contradicted what he told us several times.
After my fourth week, I called J's supervisor asking that we meet to discuss the problems in the class. I asked that the meeting be kept in confidence. He assured me that it would. It was not. When I returned from speaking to the him J left the classroom for around an hour to talk to the supervisor. We were told no more cells
When I returned the following week I was told that I had been terminated because I wasn't progressing as I should. Having played with the other students, this was clearly not true, as I was making far fewer mistakes than most, who had been there several weeks longer. I didn't really care, as some of the dealers had made it clear that the pay and tips were very low..
