Ive had nothing but the worst experiences with this *** over the last 2 years. It seems no employee knows how to help with even the simplest of task and are unwilling to learn or attempt. The call center just tries to make you look dumb and audibly gets frustrated when you ask a question, and when I applied for a mortgage, they even questioned my ethnicity and remarked how their children were darker than me. And remarked that they were surprised my fiance and I even showed up to our scheduled appointment, despite never even meeting them prior. Ive let everything slide until now, but it just gets worse every-time I get in contact them and I cant let it slide any longer. Banking with ****** ****** would be a better idea than coming here. The only good location left is the ********* one.MidWest America Federal Credit Union

We sincerely apologize for the experiences you've had over the past two years. This is absolutely not the level of member service we strive to provide. After reviewing our account notes and reaching out to our employees, we have not been able to find records of these situations, but that does not diminish how you feel about your interactions with us. Your concerns are important, and we take them seriously. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly to better understand what happened and work toward a resolution. Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience so we can address this matter further. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.Review fromAlana W

I was at the Midwest America Federal Credit Union located at ************************************************************************************ trying to deposit several checks that I received for benefits that I pay for through my empoyer. I sat in the drive-thru for over 45 minutes in 100 degree heat while the branch manager was trying to follow up on the checks with their compliance person ********. They thought the checks were fraudulant because of issues they have been having with some banks (3 different fonts on check and because I have 32 checks to deposit). I was then asked to come into the branch to talk to them. I had nothing to hide so I met with him. He said that ******** their compliance person called a number on the internet for ******* and they said that the checks were fraudulant and they didn't print them. I pulled up my number on my phone for MetLife and here she had called some other number, not the correct number. I had to prove to them that ******* sent me those checks by asking the representative for check numbers to verify. Which we did. After 30 years of banking with Midwest, I have never felt this way before. I felt harrassed, like I was being treated like a criminal. I felt like I was being detained for the police to come get me. Then the manager shared he had a spouse that worked at my company and wanted more information about how I got the checks and what to do, etc. so that his wife could see if she had this same insurance. This was very unprofessional considering the circumstances. I did later have a conversation with the branch manager and he said this was all to protect me. They were going to hold the checks for 4 days and then deposit if now issues. Please tell me why they didn't do this in the first place prior to all of the accusations, etc.. I can't even explain how I felt and how upset I am at the way that this was handled. In the future, if there are checks you aren't sure about, hold them and then if issues, speak with the member.MidWest America Federal Credit Union

Thank you for bringing this situation to our attention. Since receiving it, we have reviewed this internally and discussed how this could have been handled differently and more efficiently. Our intention is always to protect our members from fraud and any future complications that could result from it. We apologize for how this process made you feel because that was not our intention. Following this complaint, our Compliance Manager called to discuss this with you to explain the reasons for the delay and how we plan to handle these situations differently in the drive-thru in the future. Our hope is that handling this problem directly and promptly will allow us to continuing serving you and give us the opportunity to create better experiences for you in the future.Review fromIan L

Absolute worst financial institution that you could choose. Please due yourself a favor and avoid this unorganized mess. I have been a member for over 30+yrs, and I will be terminating our relationship immediately. Lack of communication is an understatement. They have zero customer service skills, and simply dont care. I had an automatic withdrawal set in place on a car loan, but the amount owed consistently changed, which left an unpaid balance, which defeats the whole purpose of automatic withdrawal. By the looks of it, this type of problem appears to be common, as others have left similar reviews. Avoid this awful company!MidWest America Federal Credit Union

Ensuring excellent member service is given is our top priority, and we value your feedback as it helps us improve. We understand that an adjusted payment can be frustrating. To keep our members informed, our insurance coverage provider mails notifications when such adjustments occur. Our notes indicate that we also called you about this issue in June and did not receive a response. We are dedicated to providing the best possible service and apologize for the dissatisfaction with our communication. Your long-time account relationship with us is appreciated and we hope that you will give us another chance as we work towards resolving this matter with you.Review fromJenniferF

I have check*** & sav***s (since 2005) and car loan (since 2023) with MWFCU. My car payment is due on the 1st of every month. On 7/1/24, I logged into the bank app to make my payment and see I owe more than usual. To my extreme surprise, I missed my **** payment. I have never missed a payment! I guess, life was life-*** for me to completely blank out and not realize a payment wasn't made. Also, MWFCU never notified me - at all. No letter, phone call, email, app notification, text message, NOTHING. MWFCU allowed an entire month to go by without say*** a word to me about my car payment be*** late when it has never been late. And MWFCU has all of my contact information! So, on 7/1, I paid both **** and July through the app then immediately called the bank. I ask to speak with the credit department but was never transferred. At first I was informed that MWFCU only notifies when a payment is 60-days late. However, this was incorrect info, and the rep then informed me that 'payment-due' text and email notifications can go out 5 days in advance and I was set up. I asked if I would be reported to the credit bureaus as delinquent for **** and I was told unclear details such as "You may be okay" or "You just have to work with what you got" mean*** a possible new credit score blemish or payment history and includ*** that MWFCU reports to the bureaus at "31 days late" and I would have to "wait and see" what the bureaus say. On 7/2, Transunion and Equifax decreased my credit score by 88 & ************************************************ as 30 days delinquent and that I owed them $485. So, instead of be*** open and honest with me when I asked, MWFCU reported me as 30 days delinquent even though they never made any attempt to notify me that my account was past due. I thought I paid my **** payment, otherwise I would have never been late (at least not 30 days) - especially if they would have notified me of otherwise. I'm so hurt and disappointed by MWFCU!MidWest America Federal Credit Union

********, we apologize for the frustration you have experienced. Members are responsible for making loan payments on a timely basis and cannot rely on the credit union for a reminder. However, there are ways to receive automatic notifications of payment due dates and we can assist you in ensuring these are set up correctly for you to avoid this in the future. We do appreciate your membership with us and the timeliness of your past payments on this loan. Due to your consistent repayment, we are willing to make a one-time adjustment to your credit report with some assistance from you. Please contact our Credit ******************** so we can walk you through the process of filing a dispute with the credit bureau so this can be accomplished.Review fromSherry S

I have a car. Loan through the dealership with MidWest America credit union. I have been trying to pay my monthly bill for,3 days . It is absolutely ridiculous the stuff they put you through. First they have no way to pay online with a debit card. Give you the option to link your bank account , pay over the phone with an additional charge or go into a branch in person. The nearest branch is 90 miles away . So I finally linked my account only to have to wait an additional 3 days before they deposit money into my account in order to verify my account . Why is it so difficult to simply pay my **** car payment. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. When I talk to customer dis-service they are no help all I get is a condescending and indignant attitude in response. All I want to do is pay for my car without any hassle.MidWest America Federal Credit Union
