  Back in January of 2022, Shoda Sewer Service broke a bladed cable off in our sewer line. We thought they had removed the broken cable, but instead, they left 14 or 15 feet of cable in our line to cause a massive problem over two years later. On 9/6/24, we woke up to find water soaking the floors of a bathroom, bedroom, and hallway connecting the two rooms. Shoda found that this was due to the sewer line being almost completely blocked, and noted the reason to be Possible broken line. For the next 12 days, we had to limit our water use. This meant bathing, doing dishes, and doing laundry at the homes of family and friends, and accruing additional expenses due to not being able to prepare food at home. When they dug the sewer line in our backyard, the Shoda dig crew verbally acknowledged to us that they had removed 14 or 15 feet of cable from the sewer line, and that this was the sole cause of the sewer drain line blockage (toilet paper, etc being packed against a twisted mass of cable over time). When we asked the Shoda dig crew why their cable had been left in our sewer line for almost three years to eventually cause this problem and property damage, they could not give us a clear answer. We paid Shoda over $2,000 to diagnose and treat a problem that they were the sole cause of. There are plenty of other sewer service companies in the *************** area - please do not risk your money and property by using this one.

  This customer was well aware of the problem with their sewer. Our cables will not break a GOOD sewer pipe. Any reputable sewer company can verify that. We felt their was a problem out by the city main and we contacted the city to inspect their line. We never got a response and the cable was gone, so we naturally assumed the city had gotten it out. This customer didn't try to make contact with us about their complaint until we received a letter from an attorney saying they were filing a suit against us. We did not cause the damage to their sewer and they were made aware of what needed to be done to correct that problem. They are trying to get us to pay for something that is most definitely not our fault.

  We have used Shoda for years for routine maintenance and backed up drains. We have always appreciated their reasonable prices, prompt arrival times with a call beforehand, and quick and thorough service procedures!
