      I attempted to pay on the day prior to the late fee being assessed (the 9th) but was unable to do so due to the system showing a balance of $0 and not allowing overpayments (screenshots provided). Two days later (the 11th), the system displayed my balance but without a late fee and I paid the displayed balance (plus a $5 service fee). I did not attempt to overpay by adding a late fee due to what happened on the 9th. I then contacted customer service. **************** told me they were "not sure why" I was unable to pay on the 9th. They also said to pay the $7.50 late fee and they would give me a $7.50 credit. I paid the $7.50 late fee plus the $5 service fee for the transaction. **************** refused to give me a credit for the service fee even though this late fee transaction never would have happened if their system was functioning properly when I first attempted to pay. **************** refused to believe me about no late fee displaying with the bill when I paid it on the 11th. How can they be so sure if their system is known to sometimes not display the correct balance and they are "not sure why" this happens? It made me feel very disrespected when customer service denied what I saw with own eyes. And it was frustrating to have to attempt payment twice and then contact customer service for a credit.For any apartment manager using / considering any utility billing service, please regularly survey your residents on their experience. Due to customers being unable to switch providers, utility billing services lack the same incentives for a reliable billing system and high quality customer service as stores, restaurants etc. Tenant turnover due in part to utility billing services having unreliable billing systems / disrespectful customer service is expensive for landlords but low cost for utility billing services. This creates a misaligned incentives problems best addressed by continuous monitoring of the quality of the chosen utility billing service.

      EBS is not a trustworthy entity. When I moved into a one-bedroom apartment and began living alone, my utility bill skyrocketed from $90 to $250 during the winter. Initially, I contacted the rental office to address this issue, and they adjusted my bill to $98.00. This prompted me to purchase a portable heater and fan to avoid using the central heating/** system and incurring another high bill. It worked until last month. Last month I unexpectedly received a $25 charge for cooling on my bill, despite not using the *** This month I was charged $176 total including $78.46 for cooling. I reached out to EBS to question the cooling charges, as I had not used the *** This is a complete rip-off, and Im requesting for the cooling charges to be taken off. The apartment office sent a technician to verify if I had been using the ** by checking the state of the filter, which turned out to be clean. I am questioning the legitimacy of this company and their billing practices. For god sake, I cannot even enjoy the little things without worrying about been taken advantage of. I'll definitely not recommend EBS. SO disappointing.

      They send the bill late which means you must pay by credit card or get assessed a late fee. I tried to setup automatic payments from my bank and they charge a $1.50 fee for that as well. I called and tried to get a straight answer on fee structure and on whether they would charge a fee if I had my bank pay. I can understand the charge of $5 for using a credit card but it seems outrageous that they would charge $1.50 for automatic fund transfers from a bank account. It appears they are attempting to tack on fees by sending late statements and only allowing fee based options.

      This company is definitely not very legit in my opinion. They always add extra days into your reading even though its suppose to be 31 or 30. i have gotten 33 and above each time. And the prices are outrageous for a sewer and water reading. Their prices are doubled what im us to paying living in an apartment. Then the **** is not the amount you truly owe. The charge adjustment fee on your **** only for you to go online and see the total amount owed PLUS another $5 for a service fee? That makes no sense (adjustments and services for what) and then the prices are almost exactly the same each time...HOW? The last **** i got was $60.00 including all the fees I'm sorry but the math is just not mathing for me.
