I purchased an 8-week-old Yorkipoo Dec 3, 2022. ****** said pup was 'potty trained with a doggie door'. Without a 'doggie door' in my home, I thought I was on my own.At 18 weeks old, after using online research methods and suggestions from friends/family, I still did not have a housebroken puppy. I looked to paying a professional to potty train my pup.I found Lee's Dog Training. Some of the statements on ****************************************************************************: - 'teaching a dog something new doesnt take very long! All dogs are so smart that within about ten attempts, your dog already understands a new skill';- '*** trains any breed, with any problem and at any age';- '. . . own a Picture-Perfect Pup . . .' and '. . . Fairy Tale Dog . . .' and '. . . no treats, no tricks, no gimmicks or useless drills,'Discussion with *********************, aka '*******************' via e-mail and in person, there were (and still are) two specific areas where I wanted my puppy trained; potty training and be calm when being left alone at home for 3 or 4 hours.I left my puppy with '*******************' on Feb 9, 2023, at 10am for a 7-day period and picked up my puppy from ********************* on Feb 16, 2023, at 10am. During the time my puppy was away, I had homework to do. I read the daily e-mails from *******************. I watched all of the video's and took notes.Based on the video's, ************************* training briefly addresses potty training. Also based on the video's, ********************* training methods appear geared towards larger dogs that might be aggressive or have other behavioral issues. I was not aware of this until watching the videos. I don't recall seeing any video how to potty train a 3 lb pup ~ or any other video training a 3 lb pup anything.I wanted my pup to stop pooping and peeing on the floor ~ to relieve himself outside. I now have a puppy that is a bit scared of me and still poops and pees 'anywhere' in the house.

    To whom it may concern,

**** signed up for training on February 7th, 2023 to begin training for her dog (Houdini) from February 9th to February 16th 2023. **** filed a complaint on March 1st, 2023 - less than two weeks after picking up her dog. **** never contacted Lees Dog Training between the end of training and her formal complaint. The website clearly indicates that dogs often start listening immediately after training, however, you may not have complete trust for a few months after training - and only after youve applied the techniques successfully. For the novice dog owner - they must take the full 3-6 months to learn how to be skilled. The website clearly indicates it can take 3-6 months of training at home before she can have the picture perfect pup like *******************. It clearly indicates on the website that training the dog is great - but the owner needs to learn how to gain and maintain respect so that training can work for them. The website also indicates that even if the dog isnt perfect at pick-up, ******************* will teach the owner how to enforce the rules at home. This is done during and after training through a series of videos, emails, in-person training, and follow-up training via email/phone calls/txts/etc. *** guides clients through the process for the entire 3-6 month period of training at home (if they contact him). There is an entire email thread dedicated to complete potty training steps, there is also a video, and steps were also discussed on-site, with ****, at pick-up. Just because some of these educational steps are brief, doesnt mean they are ineffective or need to be longer. **** never contacted ******************* after she picked up her dog. She made no indication that shes put forth any effort in training. If her dog is fearful of her - she isnt following the steps properly - or maybe needs to spend more than two weeks working with her dog at home before expecting results like *******************. Shes likely getting frustrated that hes not listening to her and flying off the handle - disciplining him more than necessary - causing him to be fearful of her. This is where ******************* would have helped **** understand what she needs to do better if she had followed the system correctly.

On the website theres a frequently asked questions page with the following question: WILL MY DOG LISTEN TO ME AFTER BOOT CAMP? HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THIS?
Yes. After a short transitional training
process, your dog will listen to you.
    Your dog will show dramatic
    improvement almost instantly, but
    complete off-leash trustworthiness can
take anywhere from 3 to 6 months
depending on the dog (and your ability
to apply the techniques shown to you).
***** job is to humble your dog and
bring them to a level where you can work with them with minimal trouble.
Your job will be to decide how good you
want your dog to be and follow through
    with those expectations.

The 3-6 month process includes ALL skills and behaviors. If these skills arent performed correctly at home then training can and will fail.

Potty training is highly dependent upon the owner not leaving the dog unattended and completely monitored - keeping a strict feeding and potty relief schedule - and applying praise and discipline when necessary. A trainer cannot control if a client at home is correctly monitoring her dog, letting the dog out on a timely schedule, or applying proper praise and discipline. This is why its outlined several times on the website that training can take 3-6 months and only if the steps are followed correctly.

**** also received a training agreement sent to clients before training that warns 1. Although Lees Dog Training has a very high success rate, Lee's Dog Training does not guarantee any training claims. (For example: Unforeseeable obstacles, such as a brain tumor, may hinder your dog's ability to be trained.). This training agreement is sent automatically by the software system whenever a client books a dog.

While were sorry **** is having trouble - none of these troubles are at fault from *******************. ******************* goes above and beyond to ensure clients can have a dog free of any behavior or obedience problems. But at its core this is only a guide. *** indicates several times before, during, and after training that it can take 3-6 months of work at home - before training can be successful. **** omitted critical steps in the training process (pre-reading website material as to what to expect and seeking follow up advice from ******************* - free of charge!). This would be the definition of not applying the techniques correctly - and therefore training results at home will not work even in 3-6 months unless she changes her ways.

**** also sent ******************* an email admitting she was aware much of the training is depending upon her. *******************, I've gotta tell you I am ready to pick up my "Picture Perfect Puppy".  Yes, I realize much depends on me and my follow-thru from now until forever.

I also will include screenshots of all of these items Im referring to.

Unfortunately - no refund can or will be made for ****.

    Thank you,

    *******************

I did not contact ***************** prior to contacting BBB because the response ***************** gave to the BBB is the same response I would have received had I contacted ***************** first.

Attached email from ********************* telling me ******* is spending the majority of his time inside with ********************* wife and kids.  Not sure when my pup received potty training and issues with separation anxiety when he spent the majority of his time with ********************* family.

***************** will stay firm and he will not refund any portion of the $2,000.00 I paid for his wife and kids to play with my puppy for a week.  The BBB can close this case as unresolved and unsatisfactory.

******* was trained and monitored 24 hours per day at my house and facility. He was quiet when I crated him and he didnt have accidents because I followed steps to ensure this. These are the same exact steps **** was instructed to follow at home. The email regarding to the puppy spending time inside with my wife and kids was sent on February 10th, only one day after drop off. This email was sent as a response to a worrisome inquiry **** had that the puppy was lonely, being neglected, and not having fun during training. Just because ******* was inside with my wife and kids doesnt mean I am not there. I am always there! **** should know this - because my training says to never leave a puppy unattended without someone who is reinforcing rules, commands, etc. The email was to ensure that ******* was spending quality time socializing and having fun - which is also part of the training process. There are plenty of steps I would have recommended to **** had she contacted me with problems. We could have spent more time discussing what her routines were. We could have discussed how she was addressing accidents in the house. We could have even discussed more training for Houdini, at no charge - if **** was really that unhappy. ******************* prides himself on being fair and going above and behind for people that demonstrate a commitment to their dog and have believe in the system. You can see that **** knew what my answer would be because she knew the expectations beforehand and she was told during and after the training that much of her success is dependent upon her execution of the techniques. Any good trainer will tell you that you cant guarantee potty training results. Why? Because its dependent upon Dawns ability to keep a tight schedule, monitor her dog, and praise and discipline correctly. This process takes 3-6 months and is made very clear before, during, and after training.

    Thanks!

    Dear BBB,

You can close this complaint as unresolved and unsatisfactory.  ***************** will never admit HIS 'training' for Houdini was a failure.  ********************* comment "******* was trained and monitored 24 hours per day" is another obvious 'tell' about the personality type of this business owner.

The day I picked up Houdinii, Houdini pooped on the floor with ***************** standing right there.  He will say firm, admit no wrongdoing and will not refund any portion of the $2,000.00 I paid for his wife and kids to play with my puppy for a week.

    Thank you,
