      My apartment has not had air conditioning for about three months. At times it has been above 100F in our apartment. Our apartment is pet friendly, but it is too hot to let out pets stay here. After a month of persistent calling, The Tyler put a small portable AC unit in our upstairs living room. Our downstairs still has no air conditioning and the unit upstairs does not help. The Tyler has been telling us the issue will be resolved asap for this whole time. Other tenants are having similar issues and other unrelated ones. Multiple of our building doors are broken and do not lock, leading to my bike and other peoples' items being stolen. The doors have been broken for over a year. I have called The Tyler about this and nothing has been done. In my apartment's hallway, there was no extinguisher for an entire year. As soon as I noticed it was gone, I called The Tyler. I called around 5 times asking them to replace the extinguisher, each time being told the issue will be fixed within the week. They never did anything about it. Recently there was a real fire and someone had to run to a different hall to get an extinguisher. Only after that did they put in a new fire extinguisher in our hall.

      Hello,

      I am reaching out regarding complaint #******** from ******************************* at The Tyler.  We are a new owner at this site so some of the issues referenced were problems that we inherited & have since repaired.  Please see notes below for the concerns referenced.  

      ** not working initial work order request submitted by roommate of **************** on 6/30.  Following this work order request a third party HV** vendor (JDs Heating & Air Conditioning), who is contracted to service all units at The Tyler, inspected the unit & determined that the outside condensing unit needed to be replaced.  This was ordered immediately but due to supply chain issues from the manufacturer, the equipment was not received until 7/20.  Installation of the new condensing unit was completed on 7/22.  In the meantime, a portable ** unit was installed in the unit.  On 7/25 **************** submitted a work order saying that the air was still not working/cooling at that time.  JDs Heating & Air returned to inspect the system & found that the resident(s) had turned the power off to the panel, preventing the ** from running.  Once JDs restored power to the panel, they confirmed that the HV** unit was functioning/cooling as it should.

      Building Doors all lock failures have been addressed/repaired.  The exterior entrance doors at The Tyler are on a controlled access system.  They take a beating & are often left propped open by residents.  Our team makes daily rounds at opening & closing to check all of these doors to make sure they are secured.  Our security company does the same in the evenings.  Should we come across one that is not locking, it is immediately addressed.  In addition, we are working with a door vendor currently to install silent alarm sounders so when the door is left propped open we are sent an alarm in real time where we can go close/secure the door.

      Fire Extinguisher this has been replaced.  The fire referenced in his complaint was not actually a fire but instead an intoxicated resident who sprayed the 3rd floor of the building with another fire extinguisher, setting off the fire alarm in the process.  All extinguishers on site have been recently serviced & are up to date.

      We do take complaints of this nature seriously & will be reaching out to **************** to see if there is anything else maintenance related in his apartment that is outstanding.  Resident satisfaction is of great importance to us & we fully plan to offer better service to **************** & others at The Tyler than prior ownership did in the past.  If you need copies of invoices or any other sort of documentation for the repairs referenced, please let us know.  We would be happy to provide those items.
