On approximately July 3rd, we took our car to ****** because it was not starting. They put a new starter on the car a Thermostat and did an oil change. A long with diagnostic test my billl came to over $1000.00. We picked the car up and 2 weeks later the car stopped on my husband again. We had to have the car towed back to Meineke. They put another hose on the car. Which cost an additional $195.00. After doing another test they said the car was leaking internally and it now needs a engine. So after paying over $*******. It now needs a engine. This should have been found when first took the car in. They just had ne going back and forth taking my money and not completely fixing my car. So now being out of over *******. We now have to get another vehicle. So we have just thrown over $******* away. We are very unhappy. So I feel we should be compensated some kind of way. Thanks ***** and *******************.

The customer was originally in the shop on July 6th 2022. We had replaced a starter and a thermostat housing. Starter had failed, and the thermostat housing was leaking. The repairs were made, and vehicle left the shop

The vehicle came back on August 9th, via a tow truck. The customer said the vehicle wouldnt start now, and had been overheating. The customer had called earlier in the week stating it was overheating and we advised to not drive it and get it to us as soon as possible. The customer continued to drive the vehicle, even though it was overheating. Once we had the vehicle inspected we found that coolant was leaking directly onto the starter and actually caused the brand new starter to explode. The coolant was leaking from a coolant hose / overflow tube. We found this due to the residual coolant on the hose. We informed customer that we would need to replace the starter and the known hose leak just to be able to start vehicle and re-inspect the car for any further leaks or damage. Customer approved for this to happen.

Once those repairs were completed we were able to further test and found that the engine was failing whats called a block test. This is due to the engine being overheated continuously, which causes the metal to get so hot that it warps. Customer was informed of this, and that it would now need the engine replaced. The customer even stated to the service advisor I told him to quit driving the car.

The overheating issue was not a result of any work we had done. It was a new issue. The negligence of continuing to drive the vehicle caused the engine to overheat so badly it warped the block, thus needing the engine replaced.

I had my car towed to Meineke Car center for a diagnostic after it stopped on me close to this locationNeeds a new engine Called to pay for diagnostic ($149)and manager tells me diagnostic is waived bc a homeless man has been sleeping/eating in my carWhy my doors were unlocked is BEYOND ME considering my address and other personal information is on my registration and in my glove box Car towed back to my house and it literally smells like feces! I cannot confidently say that these ***** spots on my driver seat arent f**** spots. There was also a mysterious grocery bag with a ***** liquidy substance sitting on my dash that I cannot confidently say wasnt f**** either. With all the germs and pox going around, theres no way Im touching anything in there! A piece under the radio is missing as well. Was completely in place when towed. This situation has literally made me sick to my stomach. In a way I feel assaulted as this is not the condition they received my car in. The manager, ****, was very kind about the situation when I called after receiving my car. He told me hed contact his owner to see if there was anything they could do to help. He gave me the customer care number to file a complaint and gave Scotts number as well. The owner, ***** was so nonchalant and rude and said that since I had never spent any money there that I wasnt a customer and that he basically didnt have anything to offer me. He told me I was lucky I wasnt charged for diagnostic. Customer complaint line took my complaint only to next day tell me each location is independently owned and Id have to take it up with the location Car towed there 7/22.

I'm sorry, the customer towed the vehicle in and declined the work, we cannot be responsible for vehicles that are left on our lot for a week.  We have signs posted and the customer didn't remove her car the day she declined the work.  Please call with any questions.  *****, Meineke Keystone Owner **************

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Im declining the response because company had responsibility of locking my car doors while still in possession of my vehicle. Im not sure how many days homeless man may have been in and out of my car or even if it was truly a homeless man and not a meineke employee. Id love to see camera footage. I had personal information in my glove box such as the address to my home where my 2 little girls live. Its a major breach of personal information and a safety hazard. Allowing someone to possibly rummage through my personal things and vandalize my vehicle with possible f**** is inhumane and again, a safety hazard to myself and my girls. All which couldve been prevented by simply locking the doors. No one called me about my car needing to be removed until Monday 8/1. They said I had until Wednesday 8/3 to have it removed otherwise a storage fee would start. I had it removed 8/2 on which day **** waived my diagnostic because of smell from homeless man squatting in my vehicle. Correct me if Im wrong but I do believe thats accepting responsibility. If company not liable per sign, I shouldve still had to pay diagnostic. Also, Ive never physically been to property to read any sign. Car towed there and towed home.

Company not taking any ownership in leaving my car door unlocked and owner still very dismissive. Im standing firm on this matter and will continue to pursue even if no resolution here. I looked into the sign in the lot and that certainly applies if someone does damage to the outside of my car or the inside of my car given entry was forced. No one had to force entry though because my doors were left unlocked carelessly. Ive attached an article from yesterday where several ppl were hospitalized due to f**** exposure which further solidified my stance. I want to get my engine repaired but cannot until the inside is sanitized and detailed.
      Regards,
