      On January 19th, 2024, I received a routine, biannual cleaning at *************** WestEnd Dental LLC (Westend Dental). Two weeks prior, without informing me, Westend Dental removed itself as an in-network provider with my insurer Cigna Healthcare. This change resulted in financial benefit to Westend Dental and significant detriment to myself and Cigna Healthcare. For example, Westend Dental received as much as triple the previously established in-network amounts for X-rays and cleaning. I was also left with a patient balance of $97 as opposed to $0 previously. Please find the EOBs attached.Further compounding matters, the attending dentist informed me that I had six cavities. He encouraged me to fill them the same day. Sensing major red flags with the rushed nature of the cleanings and scheduled fillings, as well as the lack of evidence provided, I scheduled a second opinion with *******************************, DDS, PC, prosthodontist (*********************************************************************).On February 7th, 2024, **************** confirmed that I did not have six cavities. In fact, I only had one "little baby" cavity that did not necessarily even require immediate attention. Had I not sought a second opinion, Westend Dental would have conducted six unnecessary fillings for as much as triple the expected, in-network amount. I am left with deep concerns about the ethical standards of practice held by Westend Dental.As of writing, I have yet to receive a formal bill for my January 19th appointment. I have attempted to contact the Westend Dental billing manager via email on April 3rd, 15th, and 21st and by phone call on April 10th and 11th. I have yet to receive a response. On April 21st, I informed them by email that I consider the remaining patient balance $0 (as it would have been for an in-network cleaning).I seek to formally document and confirm this resolution, and warn others about the unprofessional and unscrupulous manner in which Westend Dental conducts business.
