My father in law passed on 2-16-24 at VA hospital and was taken to crown hill cemetary to be cremated, on 3-6-24 i called and spoke with *** and was told that *********************** declined to sign the death certificate and they had tried another dr ****** and was declined due to her status with the state. i called va to see who we could get to sign it and was given alicias name as well. *** informed me that a ***************** was sent the certificate and they were waiting to hear from them. while i was helping them find a dr to sign, they were nice. ****, the director told me on 3-8-24 that they were probably going to have the coroner sign off to have him cremated and then conduct a full on investigation to find out what dr is the one who needs to sign the certificate. On monday 3-11-24, *********************** called **********************, his son, back to let him know he never recieved the certificate and that upon his own investigation crown hill had sent it to the va in ********** to another ***********************. of course he declined to sign it- he didnt treat *******************. *************** advised us that he was to sign the certificate and had apologized with his deepest sincerity that we were going through this. after learning that crown hill had made a mistake, i called there and left message on **** voicemail to let her know they messed up and *************** wanted to sign it, to call me. i never recieved a call. i called several times and finally talked to ****, the director to let him know i wanted to know where we were at with my father in laws cremation and the whole process, we know we need to pay before cremating him. Nobody would talk to me. Finally, I got a voice mail that they were starting the cremation process on 3-14-24 and that the balance would need to be paid before getting his reamins. On 3-15-24 i called and spoke with **** the director asking to recieve some form of discount, before i could even state why i felt we deserved one- he said-why becasuse we sent it to the wrong place, that took me by suprise that he said that and i said, actually, yes. he said there was no way we would get a discount but he would "pass" it along to the person whos in charge, i asked if i could have a name and was told no because i was harrasing his employees. that never happened, i ***** called to ask what is going on with my father in law because i knew the certificate was signed. since that conversation on 3-15-24 there has been NO CONTACT what so ever between them and myself. so is my father in law cremated? is is time to pay and pick up his remains? is there a death certificate we requested, and requested extra copies of (included in estimated cost of cremation)? I truly feel like the way we have been treated is absolutly wrong in this situation and deserve answers. please help me to let them know that this is NOT the way grieving families deserve to be treated. please help me to get the word out that they are in the wrong in EVERY way shape and form. All i want at this point is for my father in laws remains and death certificate, so we can continue on with selling his estate and getting hisprobate lawyer the proof of death. ************************* 3-8-1951 did not pass away in good financial standing and we have a lot of stuff to take care of on top of this added stress.we have held a celebration of life at the rasthkeller, ordered engraved garden headstone, 7 mini engraved urns to give family with ***** ashes in it, we want and are ready to fill out all paper work for va reinbursment because **** was a veteran and passed at the va hospital, we know what all we have to do. have obtained a probate lawyer, established executtor of the estate, and contacted most of his payments and debts to notify of his passing. have signed the papers to start process of selling house, but dont have a clue if my father in law has even been cremated yet and if he is ready for us to pick him up. they have not tried to call and collect any money or even respond to my request for a discount due to what we have been through. You do the math, he passed on february 16th, it is now march the 21st pretty much, that over a month without any answers of our loved one whom we had to suddenly put on ventalator after a liver cancer removal surgery on feb 2nd,that turned into a ventalator, amputation of fingers and toes (if survived), dyalysis, to taking him off life support on feb 16th and going through all this before knowing our father is resting in peace actually!! please help us to point out to them the crulety they are putting us through and what it should cost them--should be way more but we will stop at walking away without paying and receiving what we went there for!!!thank you, ***

I have sent the same message to the attorney general and have received a case number and been marked as priority as they are going to start an investigation. Today is March 22nd and there is still been no contact made on behalf of Crown Hill Cemetery in regards to the remains of my father-in-law.

My husband, Veteran, ***************************** and I, ********************* went into contract with Crown Hill Cemetery, ************, ******* on August 30, 2019, for our cremation/burial arrangements. On 8/24/2022, My husband passed away. My husband and I have been married since 2006, at the Court. I was told to provide a copy of my marriage license to the ********************** Hill which I did along with a signed and sealed letter attached from the Vital Records. The funeral home initially questioned the Marriage License since wasn't signed by the clerk. According to funeral home personnel, the attached letter was just what they needed. The letter was supposedly sent to their legal department for review in early September. As of this date, the funeral home has not cremated my husband's remains or provided me with his death certificate. According to the funeral home, the daughter of my deceased husband wants to be named as the custodian on the death certificate. I was told by **** an employee as Crown Hill that if I don't negotiate with the family and agree to let my husband's daughter be named as the custodian on the death certificate, his body would remain in the freezer, and I will not get the death certificate.I called the ****************** and as of this date, the death certificate has not been signed by the funeral Home Crown Hill, so therefore it is not available to be sent out or picked up. According to the ***************** they usually get the signed copy back from the funeral home within a week or so.It appears that because the family is in conflict with me, they are refusing to cremate my husband's remains and release the death certificate to me and making it impossible for me to get it from the ***************** or Vital Records. This has caused me a lot of hardship financially, because my husband was the primarily provider and I am not able to apply for his benefits without the providing the death certificate. Please assist me in resolving this matter. Thank You
