I took my dog **** to the VETCO total care inside of the Petco store. I explained to the tech that my dog was 9 yrs old and that I would like a senior dog blood panel ran to just check on his overall health status a little better. She agreed that it would be good and proceeded to take him in the back to get the labs drawn. After twenty mins or so she came back and said that they could not get the blood needed and gave me a bottle of trazadone 150mg pills and proceeded to tell me he would have to be brought back for another appointment . This was still the tech and she instructed me to give my dog three of the 150 mg tablets the night before and three 150 mg tablets the day of his next appt . When exiting I was given a price of approx $80.00 for the visit but I did have a coupon to save $20.00 on the first visit that I asked to use. I did ask what I was being charged for since my dog do not even get any treatment. The girls that were working were very rude and told me it was for the prescription.
After going home and looking into the medication and the attitudes of the staff. I questioned if I even wanted to take my pet back there. This seditive dosage is very high, my dog is 90 lbs but I did not feel comfortable giving him a seditive to then have to carry his 90lbs back into the vet again. Any time I have ever taken a pet to any vet they have always put a muzzle on them because they are unsure of what any dog may do in a uncomfortable situation. My dog is not mean at all and I have never had to refrain him from being aggressive to anyone. But as I said he has always been muzzled at other vets just as a precautionary measure and I have no problem with that being done for safety reasons. This VETCO did not muzzle him and I don't think they really tried to get the blood sample. I didn't even see or talk to the vet at all. Then they denied my chewy order for flee and tick prevention & dewormer. I want a refund and someone to call me regarding the unprofessional staff.
