1 starIf you want support during the time your love one needs hospice care, steer AWAY from this company. My dad spent 2 weeks in hospice care at our home under the care of Elara Caring. I can write an entire book on all the miscommunications this company had leaving the care for my dying father to be left in the hands of his *************** w/o the supplies we needed, the equipment needed, or the guidance we needed. 1. We informed them of the supplies that we needed diapers, bed pads, wipes, etc. on the 1st day of hospice , we called almost every other day asking about the supplies, we were told each time the supplies would be delivered that day, only for it not to be delivered. After a ***** call on the day my dad passed (2 weeks later) and asking to speak with an administrator bc we still did not have supplies and we had run out of what we purchased from the store, the supply order finally delivered 2 hours AFTER my dad passed away. 2. We informed them of the downturn my dad had at 7:30am and asked that they send liquid meds instead of pills bc he no longer able to swallow pills. We informed them that he was extremely uncomfortable and moaning nonstop so we needed these drugs asap. Because of the drastic change in his behavior and the extreme amount of pain he was in we asked for a nurse to come by and help with the scheduling of the meds to help make him comfortable. We were told they would have someone there asap and they would get the meds delivered to us immediately. 3 calls later that same day, we were told "oh we should have called you earlier and let you know we can't get those drugs in liquid forms but we were busy so we need to teach you how to make a paste with the drug. They did say they could get more of the morphine in a liquid form so we did finally receive the meds at 4pm that afternoon. It took them over 8 hours and 3 calls to get him the meds and also never sent a nurse to help us in getting him comfortable.Review fromValerie J

1 starHorrible company! I applied they offered me work then rescinded the offer, never giving me a reason. They sent it in a cowardly email never returning phonecalls or messages once I questioned them..I'd think twice about applying to them, they're shady, IMHO!Review fromKris Z

1 starI would not give them one star- this is regards to Elara Caring in ***************, ******* *** hospital introduced ** to Elara Caring and a *****************************, her title on her card Area Sales Manager Liaison Hospice Educator. *** next day around 8:00 p.m. my dad begins to thrash in his bed, and he begins agonal breathing (I had to ****** this a week later because no one could tell me what this is.) My stepmom said she called the nurse but could not get a hold of her. I tried calling her and she answered. I explained what he was doing, and her answer was give him diazepam and that she was criss crossing the northern **************** and could be there in a hour. I then called ***************************** to explain what he was doing and what the nurse told me. Now I am on a 3-way call with ******** and the triage nurse *****. I cannot count how many times I am telling them how he is breathing and that I know this is not good because last week he did this which resulted in a ventilator in him. Is this a stage of dying? ******** responded with calling me hon and just give him morphine. Finally, the nurse arrives and wants our help to move him up the bed. She barrel rolls him towards me which results with his face smashed against the bed railing. ***n her response is do a nebulizer treatment on him. Meanwhile my stepsister has to point out to her that she is stepping on his oxygen tube on the floor. I specifically asked her to explain to me what he is doing with his breathing. She responds with respiratory distress. I then ask is this a stage of dying? No answer. She wants my stepmom to get his c pap mask and she puts this on him upside down.We have been in a state of chaos for 3 hours now with still no answers and this nurse is not competent. My family will be forever traumatized by these last three hours. This is shocking that hospice care does not know what agonal breathing is and how to handle this situation.Review fromMartha S

1 starIf I could give them minus 100 stars I would. They have been "caring" for my husband for ONE YEAR and he is so much worse than when they started. The nurses despise being "monitored" because they just want to do vitals and get out...the PT is same old same old same old and ***** has only regressed NOT made progress. They are a crime against all health care agencies who do try. AGAIN...if they are the ONLY agency in your area - MOVE because they are a "death sentence" for your loved one.Review fromEdith B

1 starI wish we had seen the long list here and other sites of negative reviews. It is an understatement to say you most certainly will regret your experience with Elara. I had a personally hired caregiver I had sourced from CL to have hired with Elara so we cld cover my 98year old aunts Homecare hours. They were the absolute worst company who did not guide or onboard our caregiver properly putting us all through stress and mishap for weeks. Then it gets ironed out and they have just flat refused to pay our caregiver for three weeks of work claiming she dropped out of their system- when Amerigroup and HHS have confirmed there was full coverage for the full month. They took no initiative to get this resolved and Ive been n a quagmire of two weeks on phones and with omsbudsmen to help with the complaint against them. Two women n management there are hostile and malicious. They send people by on drive by appointments without scheduling and then blame client saying they tried to call. I had received no voicemails. Our caregiver did great work, but has been so jerked around and ill-treated by Elara, that she has been put into hardship because of hassles. These caregivers are seriously paid almost nothing so its a truly terrible non-health care for all experience. Multiple attempts to work things out result in dead ends and frustrations. There is a reason why these type agencies have no staff and clients are completely not getting services they need. Ive been two months without assistance for my aunt & no one cld care less. Elara clearly needs to not be in business. I cancelled them as my agency bc its not worth the stress and serious hassle. There are more details but its already a list a mile long so please do not get entangled. Its exploitative slave labor & the employees reflect this. Its a truly broken system. Start with $20hr min for ppl cleaning ********** everyday & care will improve. So happy to not have to deal with them anymore.Review fromGabriel H

1 starHorrible experience. Do not use this place to care for your loved ones unless you would like to be told you need to walk them and get them up repeatedly when theyre on their deathbed and that youre doing doing wrong by not force feeding them as they have seen people on hospice make it 3 months without eating and that youre abusing them because theyre laying in urine when you work 3rd shift from home and they come in to change them at 9a when that is the workers job to do and should be normal to have urination be present in the morning. And then being told they can try to put you in for respite care but itll take at least a week when they only have days to live, as to displace the blame away from themselves when thats why youre having them come in the first place. And then having a ********* called into the police the same night after you fire them. As someone who never wanted to have to put their loved one in a nursing home, if I had to do things over, I probably would have done that instead to save the trouble and heartache. Gives words like pathetic, sickening and unforgivable an entirely new meaning. From the main nurse to the Chaplain to the bather, although the after hours on call staff and office people dealing with the family doctors were much better. The family dog would do an infinitely better job than these lowlifes all combined.Review fromKaren A

1 starElara Caring poorly managed. And the homecare aides do not care about the client or if they do the job. They sit on their phones and drag out cleaning and never have I had everything done on my care plan. One girl told me they don't even train they just send them to the client. I have been with elara caring for about a year or more and I can tell you I've done without an aide more than I had one. They don't clean very well if at all. I don't need them in my house if they aren't here to do the job I'm supposed to get from them. Plus they are just sucking up the government money they get paid for doing nothing. Which to me is stealing and fraud . Then o never get called to say a aide won't be here or whatever. I've had to call them every scheduled day that the aide didn't show to find out if I had a aide coming or not. These girls h have had to leave after checking in to go get gloves cause the company didn't supply them any. Or at least that's the excuse I hear. I try to ask them to do the list within the care plan I have. Like change my bed or sweep and mop or clean the bathroom. I'm not happy at all and it's that way with most if these places. None of them want to work. Like I said they don't ever get the care plan completed for the week or even for the month. They don't dust hardly get them to finish up the laundry and put it away. Or dry dishes to put away. I was told last week when the aide didn't show up for personal reasons but would be here today and she isn't so I call and and the girl says she will call the aide well she calls back and says the aide tells her the supervisor took me off the schedule. Why didn't she call m we and tell me about that?? What was the reason? If I could leave minus stars I would.Review fromConnie E

1 starIt is sad that I must write this review. Elara Home Health was just a terrible experience for me. I have been going to the Wound Ctr for months now and just cant show any improvement. My pain level is extremely high and feel I can use all the support I can get. My problems started when I couldnt get supplies. Since I need to change the dressing 3 times daily to just keep it dry, I run out very quickly. This is when I had to start dealing with the staff in the office. The woman that answers the phone is extremely insensitive and rude when she is dealing with patients. I tried to reach the woman in charge many times to try and gain knowledge on how to fix whatever problem they were having but I was forbidden to leave a message and she assured me I would be called back. No one called. It is awful when you need someones help and the person ******* the phones will just not do their job. So frustrating and it was clear to me that Elara ******************* didnt care at all about my well- being. I wouldnt recommend!!!
