On 10/13/22 my wife and I called AAA to have a vehicle towed. ******** Wrecker responded and was initially over 40 mins later than the time we were told for their arrival. When the rollback arrived the driver immediately told us (without ever looking at vehicle) that AAA advised they were not going to cover the tow due to the truck being a **** and that we would be responsible for the bill. I asked how much the bill would be and was told $96.00 cash plus 5% for card. I told the driver to go ahead and tow the vehicle. After the driver had "hooked" my truck and began the loading process he called his dispatcher to change the destination address. *** previous address was 4.1 miles from the location and the new one was 4.0 miles. *** driver was heard on the phone telling the dispatcher that "yes, its already hooked." *** driver then came over and told me that because my truck was a **** it bumped them up to their "medium duty rate" and that the bill was now going to be $231.00 if paying by card. This was long after he had acknowleged that my truck was a **** and didn't bother to tell me that there was going to be a $130.00 price increase until after he had "hooked" and began to load it. At this point because of the truck being "hooked" I had no choice but to pay the increased price and I feel as though this should have been address prior to "hooking" the truck and forcing me to pay the increased rate. *** pickup location was in ******* ******* and it was being towed 4 Miles to a ********* ******* address. I called Martins on 10/14/22 and spoke with a lady on the phone who told me she was going to talk to her boss about it and return my call yet today. I never received a return phone call.
