CON MAN! Please stay away. I would not give this contractor any stars if that was an option for this review. Note* I am a first-time homeowner and this is my first experience hiring a contractor. That is not an excuse for not doing my due diligence prior to hiring him but a ****** learned.. never again. We just needed one kitchen wall re-drywalled due to water damage from a leak in our roof. I am a single mom with a 3-year-old and was trying to stay within a strict budget that I had taken out of my 401k. I posted a ******** recommendation asking for help finding a licensed and bonded contractor in the Kokomo, IN area. I received a suggestion, which ended up being his brother who has been arrested several times. After reading the recommendation, I called the number. He scheduled time to come out and look at the kitchen. During his visit, he seemed very knowledgeable about his craft and like a decent human. He brought a contract that listed the terms that we discussed over the phone. To meet my budget of $2500, he asked if we could take down the cabinets in the kitchen to minimize their labor costs, which we did. 10 items in the contract, only one, the drywall was completed. Within the first 2 weeks on the job, he suggested I replace my countertops because he claimed mine were not salvageable. He went to *********** and text me that he found new ones and needed $725 for them before he purchased them. Never provided receipts even after I asked him to bring them with him. Counters he bought were $200 and not even the right measurements. He got overspray on all my appliances when he re-painted my cabs, backsplash that he never put up, yanked out my sink, busted a water line, cut line to my AC unit (he had no reason to go under the house), covered up outlets with drywall. Spent more time smoking in his truck than working, constant excuses/lies, asked for more money and put us out of a kitchen for 2 months. Ended up having to hire someone else to fix their shotty work.
