Date of Transaction: August 21, 2024 Amount of Money Paid: $14,000 Description of the Transaction:On August 21, 2024, I financed a vehicle from Discount Auto LLC for a total amount of $14,000. The dealership committed to providing a reliable vehicle free from significant mechanical issues at the time of purchase.Nature of the Dispute:On November 15, 2024, less than three months after purchasing the vehicle, it unexpectedly stopped while I was driving. There were no warning lights or indicators present before or during the incident. I had to arrange for the vehicle to be towed to a mechanic, who subsequently informed me that the transmission needed to be replaced. I contacted Discount Auto LLC to express my concerns regarding the transmission issue occurring so soon after the purchase, especially given the absence of any warning signs. I also raised concerns about the additional out-of-pocket expenses I would incur due to this transmission failure.Resolution Attempts: I contacted the dealership on December 3, 2024. Unfortunately, the dealership has not been helpful in addressing my concerns and has refused to provide any further assistance regarding the matter. I believe that the dealership should take responsibility for the mechanical failure of the vehicle that occurred within such a short time frame after purchase.Desired Resolution:I am seeking a resolution that includes a full refund of my purchase price.Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope for a prompt response and resolution.

Test drove a truck for ***** minutes on a Saturday 11-23-2024. Ran ok. ******* to buy it for $6075, they told us it was in great shape. But about an hour after driving off the lot, the check engine light comes on.That same night I got stuck about 40 minutes from home. It would not shift into gear. Had to get a $250 tow home on a Sunday at 3am.I got ahold of Discount Auto on Monday when they opened up. They towed it back to their shop and later that day they tell me that it just needed a new fuse, but that they are also going to do a service on the transmission on Tuesday morning.Did not hear from them on Tuesday.Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving) they call, but I missed it. No voicemail left. Tried calling that number on Friday, the phone line was not working.Tried calling again on Saturday (1 week from purchase) the manager tells me that I need a new transmission on a truck they just sold me and I have less than 2 hours driving..No option for a return, or exchange. He tells me he would "work" with me on repairs, but that was just fluff. He expected me to spend thousands more on a repair for a car I owned for less than 2 hours before it broke.

The vehicle passed emissions proving it had no issues or check engine lights, they took it on an extensive test drive, they bought the vehicle at a lower negotiated price and then it did develop a transmission issue after it left here.  We did a diagnostic check on it and it did have transmission codes and we did offer to help them with labor costs.  They declined a warranty at purchase and we also offered to see if we could put them in another vehicle.  They declined both options and we in good faith paid for the vehicle to be towed back to them after we paid to have it towed here.  Obviously we aren't happy this happened but ******** are known to have transmission issues and again, it had no check engine lights when it left here, it passed emissions which it would have done if it had a check engine light and they bought it as is.  We could provide all the signed paperwork.

I am most certainly not pleased with this outcome. I want my money back. Or at the very least I would like to know if I can still exchange this vehicle for a different one.

Our offer of doing a trade in remains.  We do have other vehicles available and we'd like to find an amicable solution for both sides.

I purchased a vehicle from Discount Auto LLC less than two weeks ago. I havent even had the car in my possession for more than a week since the purchase because they took the vehicle back to make repairs. The original reason why the car was taken back was because it was overheating. The owner as well as the shop manager told me that it was overheating because it needed a thermostat. Two days later the shop manager calls me and tells me the vehicle is fixed and they even flushed the coolant system which was also a lie. They had me sign a piece of paper saying they fixed the issue. I take the vehicle back only for it to have a similar issue. I complain to the dealership once again but before taking the vehicle back I replaced a radiator and coolant reservoir in an attempt to rectify the situation myself as well as cancel out all possibilities of it being a coolant problem like the dealer and shop manager advised. After the repairs were made and upon further inspection I not only find that they never replaced the thermostat, they took the thermostat out in an attempt to mask the oil pressure problem. The vehicle is overheating as a secondary symptom of the original problem (engine oil pressure) in which they knew about and attempted to mask by removing the thermostat so the car wouldnt sense that it was overheating. Upon the way to take the vehicle back to the dealer again the car breaks down on the side of the road and has been in their possession ever since and now the dealer is once again attempting to push the blame on someone else stating that since Ive made additional repairs it isnt their fault, when the additional repairs out of my pocket would have never been made if the vehicle was fixed correctly the first time. Ive been very patient with these people and have tried to settle the dispute in every way possible even spending my own money on repairs within a week of having the vehicle.

I, *******************************, the Office Manager with Discount Auto, LLC spoke with *********************** several times in regards to this vehicle as well as the Shop Manager/ Master Mechanic ************************* . ***** previously had an appointment for our shop to recharge the air conditioner as it was not cooling at full capacity and needed more Freon  .  When **** opened the hood to the vehicle he immediately noticed that the wire loom was sucked into the cooling fan . When **** asked ***** about this he admitted that he had a * buddy * messing within the engine making repairs. **** told him that the wiring loom was damaged and caught in the cooling fan and we would fix it but not at our cost , he had to pay for the repairs. He stated he was going to take it back to the *buddy* that messed it  up and have him fix it.  We had not heard from him until Tuesday August 6th. He again spoke with me at first and I referred him to the Shop Manager/ Master ******** *********; , and **** again explained to him.  **** was going to set an appointment with ***** to bring the vehicle in for him to take a look at it, and determine the issue and ***** agreed to this and asked if we would work with him on a payment plan for repairs in which **** did agree to this. Once the call was disconnected approximately ***** minutes later, **** received a text message from ***** making threats of legal action. At that time with threats being made, **** stated , * That's fine, do what you believe is right with this however contact with cease and the offer to work on the vehicle with payment plan is off the table.

It should be noted that the date of the sale 06/22/2024 , he did willingly sign an as is warranty waiver, attached and it was explained in detail what he was signing. The Bill of Sale is also attached for proof of purchase of $2,500.00.

******************************* purchased a vehicle 2010 Escalade from Discount Auto for $10,700. The vehicle has been purchased for less than 1 month. It has been at Discount Auto for extensive repairs of an oil leak with supported documentation. And the Mechanic **** admitted the vehicle was never checked prior to purchase. Now we can not get through to the proper management. And they have the vehicle.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/11/2024

We mutually agreed to a refund of $10,200 and the check was issued.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/11/2024

I am rejecting this response because: The 2010 Escalade was purchased on May 13, 2024. The consumer returned the vehicle within 2 weeks of the purchase with a check engine light on. I was told that an oil pressure sensor was needing replaced. **** the manager informed that the company would fix the extensive oil repairs and "they will take care of it." After great debate with the consumer. The vehicle was picked up on June 6, 2024, when the consumer received a call from ****** that the vehicle was repaired and ready. There were extensive oil repairs that included oil pan, oil pressure sensor, and pigtails. The consumer picked up the vehicle right after 3:00pm and drove 13 miles, an air pressure light was on when entering the vehicle, there was 12 pounds of pressure in the tire with a s**** in the tire that was marked and not fixed. The consumer took the vehicle to get the tire fixed. The check engine light came back on within the 13 miles and oil was leaking again. Returned a call on June 6, 2024, per ****** and **** at Discount Auto, they informed to drop off the vehicle after 7:30am on June 7,2024, to recheck. **** the mechanic informed that the vehicle needs washed, and the oil will get washed off, he also informed that there was an issue with the computer, electrical problem while he was checking it with a device. He informed the vehicle was losing communication with the electrical dashboard. He also informed that there was a transmission problem, the heads in the engine are going need to be changed and the brakes will also need fixed. The consumer asked and is asking for the entire amount of $10,700 dollars be refunded.

    Business Response

    Date: 06/11/2024

Please see the attached. A refund was issued to the customer for $10,200 which was agreed upon with the customer via email and paperwork signed stating that the vehicle, a 2010 Cadillac Escalade, was being sold back to us, Discount Auto, LLC from ******************************* .  A check was written and picked up on by ******* and ****** on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at approximately 1045am.

    Thank you.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 06/12/2024

I am rejecting this response because: The consumer of the vehicle or anyone else did not touch any fluids, engine, transmission of the vehicle. It was obvious that we were sold a vehicle with many issues that would be extensive and expensive to fix. **** the mechanic admitted to us that the vehicle was not checked prior to us purchasing the vehicle.  Ethically, Discount Auto clearly does not care about the consumers or who they sell vehicles to, and the vehicle was placed back on the lot as soon as it was returned for $11,500.

Unfortunately, another consumer will purchase this used lemon and have the same issues. We definitely had a horrible experience with Discount Auto and were not satisfied with services. As working professionals in the healthcare field and working with other consumers, we will definitely not recommend Discount Auto. We will be careful with buying our next vehicle and go to a well-established dealership. We do not have time to go back and forth with Discount Auto. This business was in the wrong to sell a damaged vehicle and we settled for $10,200 to purchase a dependable vehicle from a reputable company.

This business sold me a vehicle that is a lemon. Not even one week after purchasing the abs light, to check engine light, the emergency brake that stuck, the airbag light is on, while driving the entire dashboard lights up all my gauges fall down and the car is in horrible driving condition and is unsafe. The vehicle was said to me $2,400 plus worth of work and nothing is covered under the warranty. The seller stated that is wrong as it passed emissions it's a good vehicle.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/18/2023

Hello.   We are sorry to hear about these issues.  ******** did call us and we let her know that we would be glad to look at the vehicle for her.  It did pass emissions before we sold it.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/19/2023

I am rejecting this response because:
Stating that the vehicles has passed emissions doesn't make it a safe vehicle. I asked if the vehicle had any issues before I purchased it and I was told no, then wants the vehicle started to have issues and lights on the dashboard I was told by the shop that the lights on the dashboard indicating any issues had been turned off and reset. This business sold me a lemon.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/22/2023

Once again, we are sorry you are having an issue and we ask that you bring the vehicle in so that we can look at it for you.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/23/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

Looking at an unsafe vehicle. For what are you going to fix ALL of the problems with it? I have the list. As stated before you guys turned off the lights so that it would pass emissions and you could sell it as a good vehicle even though you all knew is was not. Thank God no one has been hurt or killed because of your negligence and greed.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/23/2023

All the monitors have to be reading before any vehicle will pass emissions.  Clearing the lights/codes will not work for a vehicle to pass emissions.  And feel free to ask a shop or a mechanic to verify that.  Once again, feel free to drop off the vehicle if you'd like us to look at it for you.  We are trying to help.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/23/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

They've already told me that the lights had been turned off. And again are you going to fix all the stuff that is wrong with it because looking at it isn't going to fix anything or make it right.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/23/2023

Yes, the vehicle has been inspected by a repair shop

    Business Response

    Date: 08/31/2023

Ok.  Once again, we are offering to look at the car for you if you want to drop it off.

    Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I will be dropping my vehicle off for this business to look at and repair.

    Business Response

Ok thanks.  We will look at it for the customer.
