We had this business come out for a slide repair. One of the slide motors not working. I had previously purchased a replacement motor from ****** & installed it but still didn’t work. He stated motors purchased this way may not work (not reliable), so he sold us one for over $400.00. He installed it but it still didn’t work, then said the motor controller was bad. Due to traveling schedule & his schedule he couldn’t continue with troubleshooting. He directed us to ** ****** in Elkhart IN, close to our next destination, but they were booked out too far, so we rescheduled with Louisville RV Repair since he had worked on it originally. On the scheduled date he had to cancel due to injury. We contacted ** ****** & they had an opening. ** ****** found the motor & controller we purchased from Louisville RV Repair were bad. I was under impression since Louisville RV Repair said the motor I had originally purchased was cheap that he installed an OEM part from ******* (motor Mfg). ** ****** checked & verified with ******* that it wasn’t one of their motors. The final fix was ** ****** replaced the motor & the original motor controller (that Louisville RV said was bad, I had kept the part) there was nothing wrong with the original controller. We are only seeking reimbursement for the motor and controller, not the labor costs. We even offered to send the parts he sold us back to him so he could get reimbursed from his supplier.

The parts I sold this customer were never installed by our company. His site was up and he had to leave before we could properly diagnosis and repair his issue. He already had other technicians look at and had called the manufacture several times himself. Instead of letting the technicians do their jobs he continued to point directs that he had YouTubed and was referred to look at. Our warranty on motor and parts is 30 days. He has text us many times stating others could not figure out the issues and he had reseached and tried things on his own. It is almost 90 days now and I have no clue who has done want but it is past our warranty period. RV's are movable objects and often have things like power surges and such. I informed him it is past warranty time frame  and others has worked on his issues. There is no warranty for this such thing by us.

I am rejecting this response because:

Not sure how he can say he didn't install the parts, how else would we know that they didn't work and why charge 3 hours labor. I only researched the issue to assist him with information, as for the 90 days, as I stated we had another appointment with him but he became injured (something I couldn't control), I even offered to accept half of what we originally asked and he refused.  We can't control when businesses are booked up months in advanced. We are only asking for the price of the parts. We are out  from him a total of $1455.27, we are only asking for $845.27 for the parts. We have verification the motor was not  OEM from the manufacture ********* for all I know he got his from ******.  Bottom line the parts he installed never worked, if they had the issue would have been resolved when he first installed them.

    Sincerely,

I explained to him in the appointment that the motor “he” purchased from ****** was bad. Our hour rate is for any time we spend on a customer’s issues. He took the new motor with him but it was not installed. He is falsely representing himself and the part. In the RV world everything is done by service call fee and hourly rate including diagnostics. He stated he had ordered a bunch of parts from ****** trying to fix this and called the manufacturer several times. First off it is way past our warranty timeline and second it was not our bad motor that was in place. He had to leave because his camping site time was up. Not only have we learned from this customer because of the situation but put in policies to prevent a customer from trying to falsely accuse us in the future. This customer thought he could fix it himself and ordered parts from all kinds of places. This is nothing that comes back on us. There is no warranty for us of a motor he purchased else were and installed himself or by someone else. We will give no refunds or warranties for this customer. Period.

I am rejecting this response because:

His statement is a lie. Yes I did order two motors from ****** and I told him this, he said that is why they didn’t work, so he got a motor to replace the ones I bought off ******* He installed the motor and his didn’t work, so he said it must be the controller. He put in the new controller and it still didn’t work. Yes our time was up so we took it to RV Rescue in Elkhart In. (The place he recommended )They were booked up, so we rescheduled with Louisville RV Repair, he got injured, so we talked again to RV Rescue and set a time to have them look at it. At no time did I or anyone else touch the motor. RV Rescue saw it wasn’t working, they stated they swapped the motor and the slide started to work but would stop after a few seconds. He suspected the controller. I told him I still had the original controller that Louisville said was bad. They put the original controller in and the slide started working. I understand business not wanting to refund money, but to bold face lie is not a good business practice. I don’t expect this to go anywhere. My only recourse is to let others know my bad experience.

    Sincerely,
