In April 2024, I visited Riverview *********** located at ******************************************************************************. I visited them to determine whether I had a hernia. The doctor evaluated me and thought that I didn't have an issue, but suggested that I get an *** to be on the safe side. I signed the consent form to proceed with the *** and then went two to three doors down the hallway of the *********** facility to have the *** performed. The *** confirmed what the doctor had highly suspected, which was that I didn't have a hernia.Several weeks later, I receive a bill in the mail for roughly $1,400. Apparently my visit was turned into an emergency visit rather than an urgent care visit. At no time was there an emergency and, therefore, shouldn't be billed as such. I nicely called them to dispute the charge and, after several separate conversations with management, was eventually told to sit tight while they resolved things on their end. I shared with them that my intent is to pay a fair and equitable amount for my urgent care visit; therefore, I should pay something but not the egregious amount billed to me.Then, in December 2024, I received a letter from a collection agency, sent on behalf of this hospital. This nonsense has now gone too far. The hospital has maliciously taken advantage of my urgent care issue by turning it into an absolutely unnecessary emergency issue that increased the bill tremendously. While I was initially fine paying a fair and equitable amount, I would now like the entire bill to be removed given the inappropriate way they have gone about this and the time and effort I've now put forth to resolve their wrongdoing.

    Business Response

    Date: 01/08/2025

    Good morning,

I received a mailed copy of the complaint on 1/6/2025 from your office, dated 12/20/2024. I apologize for the delay in response, as it appears you have attempted to reach us multiple times. The care and billing for the services the complainant received was appropriate, however given the communication breakdown, this matter has been resolved satisfactorily directly with the customer. Thank you and if you need any additional information, please let us know.
