In Sept of 2023 I rented a piece of medical equipment called an Elite Seat from them for my knee. I paid $445 at the time. I paid them another $400 in October to rent it another month, and then returned it in Nov. Two months later in January, they said I had broken a plastic part in the unit and would charge me $200 to repair it. I explained that I did not know what they were talking about that I used the equipment up to the day I returned it. I had used this equipment hundreds of times and knew how to use it. They then said I must have forcibly broken the part when packaging it for the return. I explained I am a mechanical engineer and know how to assemble and disassemble equipment, as I do it every day for a living and did not do that. They said I was still responsible and I kindly told them I would not pay it. I tried to explain that even if there is a plastic part (which I didnt even recognize) that plastic parts would wear down over time and fail and not due to the fault of the user. With rental equipment there is normal wear and tear and maintenance that they must do and that is part of why they charge >$400 per month. I kindly tell them I did not break it and will not pay the $200. So, a couple more months pass and they say they want to file it to my insurance but need my authorization. I told them I will not sign the form for them, as I believe that is insurance fraud because I DID NOT BREAK their equipment. A few more months pass and now 8 months after returning it they have charged my credit card $200 which I did not authorize. I believe I should not have been charged the $200 to repair a rental piece of equipment that I did not damage.
