    Customer Answer

Rojas roofing gave 2 quotes to fix my roof, one for a complete replacement of the roof for ***** and another for repair only for almost 7000, we decided to go for the repair only, at any moment I was told that the new part of the roof was going to look different than the other part, now the house looks very much patched, also when I asked for a complete repair, it sounds very funny to ask them no to replace the rotten board on one side of the house, I am not a person very familiar with the terms of contractors, but a completed repair was what I was told it was going to be done, the front of the house looks very different from one side to the other, if I want to sell the house, the buyer is going to ask me to fix that, I am not trying to get away with paying , but a job well done, they finish their job in 4 hours, I want my house to look even, I am sure that there is a way without replacing the whole roof, I mention this to the company, but their answer was the job quote on paper is done and pay, if not we will put a lien on your house, I am a US Army vet and I don't like it when somebody is treated that way, I was very reasonable with them

    Thanks

The contract stated that two slopes of the roof would be removed and replaced. This was completed. We were also contracted to remove and replace fascia on one section of the roof line. This was also completed.

After the work was executed, the customer indicated he did not like the look of front ***** and would like a matching drip edge (metal strip as per code installed on the side we did replace). We offered to do this free of charge, and did in fact complete the work. The original roof slope that was installed on that side of the house (a slope we did not install) was improperly installed. We cannot fix the shingle overhang that Mr. ****** is complaining about without completely replacing that slope of the roof. This is an expense we do not agree to. We can remove the drip edge, which we already offered to do, but that is the extent of what we agree to.

Additionally, Mr. ****** indicated that he wanted a hole patched on a different area of the fascia, again not contracted. The discussion with two of our team members centered around just putting up a board to keep animals out. This is what was done. Mr. ****** is not happy with the look. We offered to fix this area to make it match free of charge. Mr. ****** has not agreed to this.

All contracted work has been completed. If we cannot come to a resolution, we will have to place a lien on the property to ensure our back end payment is received.

As you stated, repair the damage, does  correct everything that was wrong, correct, you quoted a complete replacement quote tthat I couldn't afford, so I decided to repair what it was damage, your contract doesn't mention replacement of the boards on that side of the house, but you knew it has to be repaired, there was not a moment when I mention to you to repair only one side of the roof, at the same time, you never mention that your repair was going to leave the roof looking  different from the older part, I can't afford to replace the other side, and that is exactly what I have to do if I sale the house, nobody is going to buy a house  with that deficiency.

Like I said, don't want a new roof, all I want is that both sides look the same

When you first got quotes from us, you were aware that your roof was old and we recommended a full replacement. We even provided you with documentation to give to your insurance company to help get that paid for. Your insurance denied your roof and you stated that you wanted the "budget repair." You also wrote, " insurance doen't want to cover but a 1100 dollars after my deductible, so we have to go with fixing it only." This implies an understanding that you knew at the time what you were buying. Your contract states "replace 2 slopes and replace fascia and rebuild bird boxes plus 10 sheets of decking, flashings, chimney flashing, ridge vents.
NO WARRANTY ON REPAIRS!" This is the work we completed.

Nowhere does it state "a complete repair." A complete repair would have been the replacement.

Again, we have offered four times (11/21 10:25am via email, 11/21 12:31pm via email, 11/21 1:05pm via email, and in my first response to your BBB complaint) to replace the single rotted board in question, at no additional cost. You have yet to accept this offer.

As you state, you are not familiar with contracting. I assure you that there is no possible way to fix the overhang of the shingles on the side we did not touch without replacement of that slope of your roof. Shingles tie into each other. To change the overhang shingles, we would have to cut back many rows of shingles, which would represent a replacement of the slope in question.

This is a reasonable response. No one is trying to take advantage of you.
