    A few months ago we were interested in an Rv online and we were told we had to put $1000.00 down to hold it until we got there. We were not sure we wanted it but wanted to look at it. When we got there it was not something we were the slightest interested in as we would be trading in our brand new camper for a driveable one. They would not refund our $1000.00 we were furious!!! We want our money back also we did not sign anything

    When the customer called about purchasing a motorhome he was told on the phone that we cannot hold any units for customers without a NON-REFUNDABLE $1000 deposit. The customer wanted additional pictures of the unit, and a bill of sale sent to him which was done. He then left the $1000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. When the customer came to our shop to look at the unit, do the walk through and sign paperwork, he decided he did not want to purchase it. We again told him the deposit was NON-REFUNDABLE, however, we would allow him to transfer it to another unit which would then go towards the purchase price. He checked out our inventory, and inquired about a deal on a 5th wheel, to see what he would owe after his trade in. When we contacted the customer later that day to discuss the amount for the 5th wheel with trade, he did not reply for 2 days. Then he said he wanted his deposit back.

     I am rejecting this response because:

    This is bad business how can you keep ***** dollars for getting absolutely nothing. We did not sign any paperwork or agree to buy the ** once we saw it it was in terrible condition and we had a unit that was new and used a few times! We just want our money back

    I have attached a picture of our office door where it is also posted that ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. The customer is correct that he did not purchase the motorhome, but he did leave a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit on the phone so that we would hold it for him. The purpose of the deposit is to not sell the unit to someone else. This is our policy for every deposit. If we took deposits but then refunded them per the customer's discretion, we could potentially lose out on a sale to other customers in the meantime. Whether the customer agrees this is good or bad business does not affect our policy.
