On 6/20/2024 at approximately 8:07-8:10 I brought a large tractor wheel to Best One Tire & Service, located at **** ***** *** **********, IN, to have a busted inner tube replaced. While the employee was unloading the wheel from my vehicle with a fork truck, the employee dropped the wheel on to my vehicle, causing damage to the top of the truck bed and the bed cover. After looking at the damages I then notified ***** (manager) of the issue. He then told me that it's just apart of the job. He then proceded to tell me there was nothing he could do and that they would not pay for any damages. After receiving a call at 11:17 the same morning telling me the wheel was repaired, I spoke with the manager again about the instance. He then started denying that his employee did anything to my vehicle and claimed the damage was most likely pre-existing.

2/14/24-12:50pm for a prescheduled oil change. The worker that helped me was friendly. I let him know about my appointment and asked if they could check my right rear tire, and left front tire for any issues, or a slow leak. After 15 mins he came to let me know that my right rear tire was unrepairable, my other tires were also in need of being replaced. He handed me a quote of $587 for all four tires and then informed me that my windshield wiper was missing. He said quote, " the technician said you need a new windshield wiper, yours is gone. It is just metal on glass." The quote for the repair was $37. I declined the service and just asked for the oil change. which to my surprise was already done. I received my paperwork, paid my $41.67 bill for my oil change, the overage being my vehicle taking 6 quarts of oil, and left. I drove one block to the AutoZone, where I checked my windshield wiper. My wiper was in fact attached to my vehicle and in working order, but the rubber blade had been pushed up so that one prong was against my windshield, causing the issue. Had someone actually looked at the wiper itself, it would have been an easy, free fix. I have since fixed it myself.
Wondering if I had been led astray, I reviewed my vehicle paperwork, and noticed that there was a note about the right rear tire being "unrepairable" but yet marked green on the scale, while my other three tires were marked between red/yellow. I also noticed that there was supposedly a whole check over completed, that all took less than the 15-20mins I was there, which seems unlikely. Finally, I check my tire PSI system. All my tires were inflated to 41-42 PSI. My tires have to be at 36-37 PSI, 42 will make them more suspectable to popping while in motion. Making my vehicle extremely unsafe and putting myself and my three children in danger. I feel violated by this place of business for trying not only to take advantage of a woman but also putting possible profit over the customer.

We wish to apologize to ******* ****** if she feels that the suggested repairs or replacement of tires were not justified or expected.  BestOne has a priority to keep customers and families traveling safely on the road.   At times we are required to provide suggestions to our clients.  These sincere suggestions may seem like "bad news" to some.  In our store providing our professional opinion is absolutely never to take advantage of any person.

Repairing a wiper blade, in nearly every case, is a temporary solution.   Wipers are generally inexpensive and expected  to be replace once or twice per year.  If a wiper shows any wear or defect it is best practice to remove that wiper blade from service.  Damage to a windshield or vision obstruct would be a possible and unfortunate if not properly resolved.

To address the tire conditions.  We suggested 4 tire replacements based on the condition and the puncture(s) causing air pressure loss.  BestOne provided an estimate to replace all 4 tires with the best value brand that we carry for her Dodge Journey.  We apologize for the tires have a little over inflation.  I spoke with our tech and he said that due to the air loss he felt best given that a couple tires will be loosing air.  Also 41-42 psi is more that suggested for a Dodge Journey but within the safe inflation range for the tire.

BestOne performed a full synthetic oil change for the special promotional price of $29 using 5 qts of Valvoline oil; plus tax and service/environmental fees.   The Dodge Journey uses an addition quart of oil (6qts system) .  The total cost to complete the transaction of this 6qts of oil, the oil filter, our labor to change the oil/filter, courtesy vehicle inspection (no additional charge), service/environmental fee and tax was $41.67.

Please let ******* ****** know that BestOne regrets if she was not comfortable with our suggestions.  We truly strive to offer sound advice and long term solutions, with great value to all of our customers.

      Thanks, **** ****

I asked them for an oil change and brakes. I was charged $1,000. Most of this was for rotors they changed without my permission. I was not asked about my rotors and they charged me and did it anyway and refuse to do anything about it.

      Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I requested brakes and an oil change, UT nothing further. They performed more maintenance than I requested, my rotors. In all my years of bringing my vehicles in for "brakes", I have NEVER had anyone do this to me. I did NOT want rotors. I would have asked for them if I did.

      Business Response
Brake pads and brake rotors are both standard wear out items on the brake system. Putting new brake pads on used or worn brake rotors are not the correct process of a brake service. If you are not comfortable with our service we can make an arrangement to return the old brake parts so you can get a 2nd option. If at that time they are able to use your old parts simply return the parts for a refund.
