I filed my 2022 Federal and State taxes with JJ's Tax Service on April 11, 2023. I paid JJ's Tax Service $125 on April 13, 2023 via check.

On July 19, 2023, I messaged ******* regarding my taxes because it still showed it has not been processed on the IRS website. She told me she would speak to them that evening.

On July 23, 2023, I messaged ******* again asking if she was able to get anything figured out. She relied stating "I apologize I did speak with them. They couldn't find your return in the system so I gave them the confirmation number. They were able to pull it over. And our processing it in the system now."

On August 21, 2023, I messaged ******* asking for any updates for IRS federal taxes. I did not get a response.

On Sept 19, 2023, I called ******* ***** and she did not answer. She messaged me back stating "I'll call you back" and then "I'm currently out of town and not available can I call when I return next week." I never received a call from ******* the following week.

I called the IRS on Sept 19 2023, and they notified me that my federal tax return was rejected twice. I was never notified by ******* or her tax service team of that. Call Confirmation ***********.

I notified ******* on Sept 25, 2023 that I had filed by Federal and State taxes on my own since it has been several months and two rejections and that she had not helped me fix this issue. She replied that she would refund my prep fee by check or vemo. I messaged stating "check".

I did not receive a check from ******* for the unsuccessful service.

I now owe a penalty for filing my taxes late even thought I filed before the due date (on April 11, 2023) but ******* never attempted to resolve the rejected issue. ******* never notified me that refunds rejected twice. My IRS penalty fee is $1,074.60.

I believe ******* should refund the prep fee and I believe she should pay towards the penalty fee that I now owe to the IRS. She is responsible for the two rejections and not notifying me.

      Business Response

      Date: 11/06/2023

I express my sincerest apologies for what happened with *** *******  I have taken steps and put protocols in place for what happened to her to not happen in the future with anyone else.  I had already planned to refund the tax preparation fee, however I was unaware of the penalty.  The attached letter including a cashier's check for the full amount of the penalty and tax preparation fee will be sent certified mail on November 7, 2023.
